Default older legacy turbos

hello folks,

i'm thinking about getting a legacy turbo. unfortunately my budget is pretty low so i'm really looking at the 2litre turbo non import. apparently they are 200bhp which sounds fine to me. does anyone have any experience of them? are they pretty reliable? costl to run? etc.

i'd prefer an estate but i presume the saloon's are quite big aswell. the last one i wanted to look at had ridiculously high mileage but was sold before i could see it anyway!

thanks...

They basically have the same running gear as the impreza but have a charge cooler on top of the engine instead of an intercooler. Standard power output is 197bhp and that gives the estate a 0-60 time of 7.1 seconds IIRC. They really are fantastic cars in my opinion and I love them As with most scoobs they are very strong if looked after correctly

don't really know anything about turbos. what's the difference between an intercooler and charge cooler?

also i presume it's gonna be a bit heavier on fuel than an impreza due to the size. any idea of mpg if it's driven sensibly?

Chargecooler is cooled by water and an intercooler is cooled by air. To be honest I don't know difference in weight between them and an impreza but they are about the same size so there can't be much in it. MPG wise I'd expect to see 25-30 if driven sensibly.

dont worry about milage m8
ive had 3 all over 150k miles and all tweaked
current one is a dark blue uk estate 1992 with aircon and sunroof- full 3in decat system(h+s superb),intake mods, full service hist, poly front bushes, manual boost controller(12psi)
16 in wheels with toyos, full alignment set up and it owes me less than a grand
estates are the ultimate q car i think-till you hit the loud pedal
