aint nowt wrong with uk's m8 , my brother and myself both have them and they are great reliable daily drivers .i opted for a uk as my first scoob after reading a lot about scoobs and being my first high performance car, it seemed the best option , not to say 18 months later i wouldnt consider an import myself, still very quick cars m8 whatever some folk may say ,regards the kazlo...

Lose the caps lock. Its unpleasant for the eye and is deemed as shouting on an internet forum.

UK cars are not that fast once on the move, but then again they only have 208/215bhp.

Cars like clio cups and CTR's will easily match it, if not beat it on the move.

Nothing at all wrong with a UK scoob mate, and if they are not fast enough out of the box for you a cheeky remap will sort that out...

Take a bog standard 94 wrx and a 94uk on to the track and there is hardly any difference.

Although the lack of standard a/c, electric aerial and rear wash wipe on the UK nodel hacks off a few peeps

I love my UK Turbo. Great scooby to start with backed my 1 year warranty.

Doesn't mean I won't (or haven't) mod it though

They were the dogs b0llocks five or six years ago, not many other cars on the road with 200bhp, AWD, and a turbo powered.
But now in 2005 there are equally as powefull cars on the road that don't come with a "Chav" reputation and aren't as "nickable" as the Classic Impreza.

Time moves on my friend..a lot of Classic owners here still believe they have the fastest most desirable car on the road and will say that they beat M3's, Evo's etc but even if you chip and de-cat a UK MY00 you will still only get 280bhp which is entry level for the modern day equivalent.

For the money they sell for these days they are a bargain and make great reliable run a rounds if kept standard and not chavved up.

UK's are the way to go .....

AirCon drains so much power that the Imports NEED extra BHP just to compensate

Find a UK, unmolested one and you will have a friend for life!

Funny that, I just open the windows and keep the 30 horses where they should be - under my right foot ready to do the work of turning the wheels!!

Air Con is for the girlies and Gold Wheel lovers amongst us!!

Air con is switched off, momentarily when you apply full throttle (well it does on the imports, not sure about uk turbo with air con)

Don't import WRXs only have about 20 bhp more than UK Turbo 2000s? Bearing in mind that the quoted UK bhp has been found to be a bit conservative. 20 bhp isn't exactly a great deal of difference, is it?

I must confess my ignorance with regards to Jap WRX internals vs UK Internals but I know there are loads of UK Imprezas running over 300bhp on standard internals and some with as much as 400... Which I believe is pretty much the limit for standard internals on an import or a UK car... So if you are going to modify there is not much difference with the engine. However the Imports do have better brakes and suspension I *think* (correct me if I am wrong somebody)

A standard Classic is much more of a match for the so called modern equivalent despite giving away a few horses. I owned a Peugeot 306 GTI-6 prior to buying my MY00 Impreza UK Turbo and was convinced I’d already found the best front drive hot hatch so wanted a change.

A few years ago I worked at a Subaru dealer and drove Classic’s, P1’s, WRX’s right through to the early bugeye STI’s and to be honest I found the original to be about the best all-rounder.

I tried a Civic Type R among others and was left completely underwelmed. So much so, I decided to hunt out an unspoit MY00 Classic and have not regretted it for a second…

you wont get over 300bhp on a uk with a td04 turbo (my97 >), so you will need to swap the turbo for a start
