Default Can't stop smiling!!!

i picked up my impreza last night and i'm just trying to find an excuse to go out and drive it!!!

it's my first impreza as only being 25 the insurance was a bit steep until a few months ago.

it's a 94 wrx import, pretty much standard apart from turbo timer.

they're a bit quick aren't they!!!

going to keep it standard for now. but long term, exhaust, filter, dump valve, wheels, colour code the door handles and side skirts. just going for a subtle look.

my dad's mate has one that hit's 60 in about 3 secs (proven) so i guess i'll be taking some tips from that one. the guy who owns it said "get the hang of my one for a couple of weeks and then i can have a go of his" he's got anti lag :-) should be interesting!!!

Get used to it first. Yep, makes sense to me. Need a little respect these car's.

Enjoy the ride mate.

Welcome aboard!! They're great cars; I waited about 10 years for mine, all through the training for my career. i was concerned that it couldn't possibly live up to the hype. Then I took one for a drive......SOLD!!

Respectful advice (you may already know) but could save you a VERY big bill if you don't

A 94 WRX will be an import, so if its not re-mapped for UK fuel, don't forget optimax and octane booster! Don't let your enthusiasm get the better of you: always warm i up and cool it down properly. You'd also be advised to get a Knocklink if one isn't already fitted to give you advance warning should you get a dodgy batch of fuel. Don't modify it for the moment, enjoy it as it is and then you can have some valid input into how you'd like it changed (if at all)....you'll also save a few pennies, as modifing is dangerous for your bank balance!

All the very best with it, go to your local meets etc...enjoy the community spirit!

Good plan, but stay away from dump valves and induction kits mate, the "noise" novelty soon wears off and many of the experts on here seem to advise that they are of no real mechanical value till you get the car to cicra 350bhp.

Just like to add to the warming theme. When your out and about mate take it real easy until the car comes up to temp. Keep below 3000rpm if poss. You'll see the water temp needle come up to temperature quite quickly. Give the car at least another 10 minutes until any sort of power is put down. Remember your not only warming the engine but the gearbox as well. Real eye opener when and if you install some extra indication.

Cool the car down. Think you said you had a turbo timer. But if i misread that then have the car sitting on idle for 2 to 3 minutes after a run. I do this no matter what sort of run i have just done.

Turbo timer. Might be worth checking with your insurance company on this one. Some don't like the fact that a car is going to be left unattended. In other words you stop the car and walk away while it does a controlled shut down.

Default Enjoy but be careful!!

Hi mate

welcome to Scoobynet, it's a great feeling when that turbo kicks in. Just like everyone says though take it easy and get yourself some driver training, well worth the investment.

ps remember even with 4wd, the classics still understeer!!

enjoy

cheers for all the advice guys, sorry for the delay on replies but i've been out driving it for the last 2 days!!!! but can you blame me. going to look at remapping to make sure it runs ok on uk fuel. only thing is will this mean a drop in power?

as for the question what was steep on the insurance, until my 25th birthday last sept, i was getting quotes of about £1450 full comp. i have a clean licence and 8 years ncb!!! day after my 25th it dropped to £750 full comp and only about £800 with protected ncb.

I've had my 1994 WRX for a few months now and still can't stop grinning. Needs a bit of tidying but it is old!! Don't think I'll ever get rid of it!!

with bell direct (part of admiral group). although i found elephant to be cheaper. all i done was to switch over from my old car. tesco was also quite cheap. depends on what level of cover / service you want though i guess.
