Red face My type ra whoes !!

Bought a type ra 99 and have noticed a few things that puzzle me.

1: The mph dial seems to be 10mph out @ 30 and 15mph out at 80 when compared to my GPS.Can it be changed over from kmph electronically or mechanically only ?

2: Intercooler spray light always lit up on dash ?

3: Reverse lights not working ?

4: Fitted a new ITG Panel Filter and found that there is only two clips that secure the top of the air box . How do I make sure that its a tight fit at the bottom of the box ? (I know i'm doing it wrong )

5: Want to swap side lights to crystal but can only find one screw on the top of light . Unscrewed but still could'nt remove ?

Thanx in advance for your time

Andy.

1. I take that it has the speedo converted? If so it sounds like yet another dodgy electronic converter. My mates car reads "out" by about 20 mph at 70!

3. Have you checked the bulbs and fuse?

5. There is only one screw in the sidelights. Remove it and pull like a bugger as there is a ball and socket type clip holding it to the headlight.

My type R v5 is the exact same. Think the convertor is a fault as the speed reading on my power fc seem to be ok. It was also still limited to 112mph although it was reading about 130 before the pfc.

As said, top it up.

The top uses the clips and the opposite end has some small hooks that hook over the bottom of the air box. You need to reach down and hook them over first and then clip the top. Hope you enjoy scraped knuckles.

As mentioned there is only one screw and then just give it a good tug.(Just like a marrage really)

don't bother stripping the clocks, etc..................find the 'convertor' and take it out to prove that this is the cause, almost 100% it will be
done loads of these with faulty units!!!!!!!!!!

If the reverse lights still dont work after checking fuses and bulbs, you could also get the switch on the gearbox checked, as this switches them on when you engage reverse. i have this problem as the lights dont work sometimes and if you shake the gearstick they magically come on.

Hi alyn
The clutch kit you sold me fitted spot on and holds on all the way through the revs , even on a good launch !!

Back to my other probs , where do you think the converter will be ? I'd have thought behind the clock ?

have you "disturbed" the convertor when you fitted the clutch??
could be an issue from then............."normally" on the classics its either in the middle of the two sections of cable where they meet just below the turbo.................or on the back of the clocks themselves............

no worries with the clutch, happy to of been of help................
