Looks uk to me too, where's the fog light, on imports its usually attached later and seperate from the main bodywork?

Ask if it's SVA'd, they'd have to tell you and show you if it was an import. Check Reg plate mounts, does it look like it was made for square plates, if so might be import!

UK car through and through that one ......... Imports look tacky and the price it goes for will be cheaper if its an Import

Jap cars have rear wiper, and the number plate recess in the rear bumper is more square as they take a more square number plate, I would deffo say that is a uk car

Seem to remember there's a thing with another number on the engine(?) which tells you when built and where. Not sure though!

yer i will but id rather know for a fact myself naturally if a **** up and is 1995 on v5 all is good

if 2003 should say prev reg overseas etc on logbook

which is fine will be an import but im concerened that the car in the pics looks a uk version

hence i wanna have a squiz at the motor and just double check to the best of my ability

if its had uk bumpers put on then fair enough no problem atall

however... worst be worse could be a ringer with a uk car, hence my concern

That's a UK car - no rear wiper, no motorised aerial on the rear quarter, UK rear lights, S U B A R U lettering, UK number plate recess, headlamp washers.

If you can get a look under the bonnet, I believe UK VIN numbers are much longer than Japanese ones. Inside the car, the speedo will be in both MPH and km/h if it's a UK car, but will have obviously been converted to mph (only) if it's an import.

ok looking on autotrader (entering reg in for an add)

same with ebay etc there all showing date registration 20/11/03

so...........

fair enough may of had new bumpers...what about the rear wiper?

will the vin plates be diff on an import model?

the chassis number will that be diff between a uk car and a import from east asia etc?

If you can, why not just check the chassis number?

If its 234283092384239084230 digits long, its a UK car. If its only 8 digits, its Jap.

Andy is right; a JDM car will have a chassis number starting GC8; whereas an EU car will have a 17 character VIN number.

The door handles and mirrors not being painted isnt a certain sign on red and white and latterly white cars, as Type RA's had this deleted. A JDM car will also have the tachometer in the central position with the speedometer on the right. JDM cars of this age wont have airbags either.

Also there is the obvious one when looking at the car in the flesh so to speak, all the interior decals will be in japanese. Look at both fuse box covers (all japanese with no english translation) same for the tyre rating plate and the flap that is fastened to the drivers sun visor.
