I have been the proud owner of an MY98 for 18 months and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the car.
But unfortunately 2 weeks ago I managed to roll the car and damage all bar 1 panel. thankfully I escaped with only minor damage.

I now have to look for another car to replace it. I was going to buy another Scooby but with the dropping prices uncertainty of the new shape and European imports I have decided to try something different at least for a while.

So far I have managed to come up with the old Audi Coupe S2. Does anyone have any comments on this car or can they suggest any alternatives where I am likely to get equal performance and pleasure. Budget tight as always, under £20k but preferably £10 - £15K.

There was a thread about this car a little while ago but I cannot remember in what section getting old you know

A few guys had owned them and spoke highly of their build quality and handling, as well as the earlier derivatives of the Vorsprung Durch Techniq system.

I think the S2 was Top Gear's Car of The Year in 1992, and they rated it very highly.

Followed an S2000 off a roundabout outside York a week ago. Him in front, me behind (in UK Spec Terzo), both of us floored it and we kept a perfectly even distance up to and undisclosed slightly over the limit top speed. They're a bit quick aren't they ?!

A close friend of mine is a general manager for an alga garage in London, i've always liked Italian cars + bikes but after many of his stories and tales i don't think i'd ever spend my own money on them.

Read into that what you will, and if you want specifics (or want me to ask him if he will do a deal for you on something if you do want one) then mail me off list.

Interestingly he offered me a very nice Fiat coupe turbo the other day 1998 s plate 15000 miles limited edition six speed in silver with red leather.
This car was taken off the production line and finished by hand as it was to be the managing director of Mararnello's own car (UK ferrari importer).
It had 350bhp, uprated gearbox, brakes and tyres made to ferrari's spec by pirrelli, these were self monitoring ones that self inflated/deflated to stay at optimum pressure. Also had a little gauge inside the car telling you tyres pressures and temps !
Fiat UK could never get back what this car owed them and didn't want it coming back to haunt them so they were looking for a trade sale.
£9000 to the first person to turn up at there door.

Was very tempting.

You don't say what kind of car you are after, i.e. Coupe, practical, no. of doors etc.

But you mention the S2, maybe you may consider the RS2 ? OK, its an estate but is more powerful than most Scoobies and has real tuning potential (if that is your bag). 6-speed gearbox and brakes to die for

Okay to clarify for everyone.

The car I am looking to replace the Scooby with is one of the following.

Audi S2 Coupe, must be RHD.
Alfa GTV 3.0 V6 must be RHD as well.
Budget up to £20K but preferably around £15K.

Preferably a 2 door, has to be a fairly stylish car and obviously quick and good handling.
Or any other suggestions for what may repalce the Scoob.

Ian I had seen the advert from a previous post but with no kids or intention of I really dont want an estate.

I do enjoy B road driving but most of my driving is in London, A roads, dual carriageways and motorways.

Very pleased with it.

Very refined, reasonably quick, very comfortable (recaros) very good handling.

Get a very low mileage example for 20K.

The mutts nuts £25,000 he may haggle.
This is one of my customers who has been posted back to the states and wants to sell the car.
The car was imaculate when I drove it earlier in the year and performed fantastic feats on the wet grip handling course.

Or just go for another Scoob and be happy.
