I get a bit of clutch judder when pulling away in my '03 STi. Also sometimes have that hot clutch smell.
Not sure if this is normal.
I am not hammering it off the mark or over slipping.

After driving up some ramps to do an oil change-cue bad smell-my clutch has been fine since and that was 3 months ago.

PatrolMan,
They should replace clutch, housing, thrust bearing and flywheel if it's a warranty change, but sounds like they haven't done the flywheel. I'd go back and ask them to do it again !!! properly this time (we all pay enough for the warranty ).
I've had mine done on my MY00, but about 18 months later it's coming back, I just don't think the std parts are up to the job, it's a fine line between a setup for driving to the shops and another for tearing round a track, which is basically what the standard setup tries to do. You'll never get away from the problem, ways of easing it, treat it a bit harder, it'll wear out quicker but the judder doesn't seem to affect cars driven like this.
Quick way to sort for a couple of months, handbarke on, put in reverse, let up gently until clutch bites hold there for a couple of seconds, depress clutch again, handbrake off, engage 1st gear move off slowly, open windows to get rid of burning clutch.. job done for a couple of months.

that would make sense dave as my 02 sti did it when i 1st got it but its ok now and nothing mechanicay done, it certainly does stink at times though especially after being driven hard and under load.......

Glad other people experience this in 02 STi's thought it was just my clutch on the way out... It comes and goes and is especially worse 1st thing in the morning...

Yeah same problem with major judder on my 97 and 98 uk spec turbo's. Can you not upgrade the cluth or something to stop it happening as sometimes it nearly rattles me to death and it was only replaced under warranty about 12k miles ago !!
