Default Did you buy a ppp scoob in 1996..........

..........if so, you may be able to help me.

I have a 1996 uk turbo wagon and am the third owner and have been for 2 years now.

I was flicking through a hardback copy of a comprehensive guide to the impreza today and noticed that the recaro bucket seats that were issued to the Mcrae ltd edition were available as a PRODRIVE option albeit without the signature and black only opposed to "flecked" material.

I was wondering, if these seats were a prodrive option and NOT a subaru option, were they offered as part of a package, ie similar to PPP......?

I have also got a momo leather/carbon gearknob that is still available as a dealer option, and the carbon effect dash livery.

Did prodrive offer the PPP in 1996 or did they offer an aesphetic package apart from the performance pack. When I acquired the car it had a st/st backbox that I assumed was a scoobysport although in retrospect it could've been a prodrive as thay are very similar both in looks and sound.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, especially if you happen to work or have worked for prodrive circa 1996 to present day.

I do plan to email Prodrive with my query and also offer my VIN number as I have been informed that they "may" keep computer records etc etc....

Thanx for reading if you have.

Skoosh.

Prodrive offered several packages from 1994 - 1996.
These included :
Recaro - Series McRae style seats
Uprated/Lowered Coil springs
Speedline 5 spoke 16 or 17 inch wheels
Interior upgrade (carbon or wood dash surround and gear ****)
ECU upgrade (not introduced until 1996)
I don't think a backbox was offered until later.

There were (so I'm led to believe) 25 Prodrive editions made in 1994 which had Interior, Suspension and Wheel Packages
This was basically a Series McRae without the badges.

These upgrades could be ordered through Subaru but the car was taken to Prodrive for the upgrade to be fitted.

I had No.9, which had Recaro Interior, 16 inch Speedlines, Lowered Springs.
Later on I aquired a Prodrive ECU which raised boost from 11.47psi to 13.64psi

I don't think the term PPP or WR arrived until the facelift of 1997 onwards. This included (as a basic PPP) Airfilter, ECU and Stainless Backbox. A hole host of other options were available including brakes, interior, spoiler, wheels etc...etc... putting these on also entitled the car have a WR sticker on the boot.

Here's a few piccies of my old'en.....

IIRC there were various prodrive packs :

performance
handling
interior
exterior
.....(probably others)

Like Scott says there was a full Prodrive Impreza produced and was a limited edition which you could order BUT when you ordered your impreza new you had to specified every prodrive pack (except the performance one iirc) to qualify it. Cost was about £30K as all the separate packs came to over £10K
