Does it realy matter what it looks like when your driving it?
If the grin factor is better then I'll have one, because nobody will see you driving it anyway.

(well I'll by one when I can afford it )

OH MY GOD!

The new WRX is a pig on rollerskates! The change to the grill and headlamps really makes the car look soft - not good!

I think I will go for that Skyline next year!

At least it's still got the frameless doors....perhaps the only way you'll tell it apart from a Corolla?!
Don't be in a rush to trade in your present Scooby, if looks are anything to go by the present styling will ensure todays model becomes collectable.....

Dear Mr chief exec, Subaru Japan,

please repeat the following

"DOH!!! DOH!! What have we done!? DOH!!"
repeat 100 times

walk to display cabinet with ceremonial sword, find chief designer, perform necessary action with ceremonial sword.
Find all prototypes of car, perform necessary action with ceremonial sword.

Return to desk, ring newspaper jobs column, advertise job of chief designer, key strength "to be able to design a car thats not a corolla, or uglier than an EVO 6"

Using the following web site(http://www.tranexp.com:2000/InterTran) as recommended by another bbs member:
It will translate any text but obviously text in pictures is a little more tricky!
We can see that the WRXNA has orientalism.

What an ugly piece of crap

However, the red WRX shown is wearing MY98 wheels Are the boys at FHI trying it on again or is this really the aforementioned piece of crap they expect us to support - glad I just bought an RB5.

As this is the Subaru Japan website, I would imagine that these pics are Kosher.

I like the saloon, not sure about the 5 door though.

Geezer, I quite like the new 5 door turbo, looks kinda funky! Dunno if I'd swap by existing wagon (MY94) for it though? if I could hav it in black, totally debadged then maybe, be even more of a Q car then my wagon is, which is gooood!!

So it looks like a corolla, hmmm, bad thing, why? well don't old duffers go for corollas, this would mean that they migh mistake a turbo for a grown up corolla and oddsbodkins! we;d have loads of old farts driving at 10mph in a turbo!

I will reserve final judgement until I see one in the flesh. Cars look alot different 'live' then they do in pictures.

I rmember thinking what an astonishingly ugly car the Aston Martin Zagato was when it first came out, but when I saw one on the road, it was a quite different story.

Anyway, as I've just bought a MY00, I don't think I'll have to worry about the new shape for quite some time!

Next weeks Autocar 23 August reports to have the 'full wraps off story'.

Judging by the 3 months out of date stuff in todays about the WR pack for the P1 and the mag quoting again that the car is 'sold out' it will probably all be speculation again.

Hey guys calm down. Most of you all seem to be jumping on the band wagon here, following what everyone else has said. Come on its not as bad as everyone is making out. It looks way better than the current model. It looks more aggressive, except for the lights. I always thought that the lights needed to be a bit larger on the front and now they are. I'll reserve judgement.

In a couple of months time when you see one on the road and you can do a side by side comparison to the current model I think (If your honest), you will like the new shape better.
The current shape is not so great to look at anyway, its just a case of what you've got used to,it's no Audi TT or 911 is it?

Also anyone who thinks that the older shape is going to hold its value better is mistaken.
Price are going to drop even more!
I'm still going to order mine pending a test drive.(oh controversial)

Ohh strong words there pslewis. Listen matey like someone has already said, If you strip the spoiler off the current model its quite basic looking. Put it this way there is no one who likes the current model more than me but this is the new and improved model. A more muscular stance, improved handling and acceleration and lets not forget the cabin interior (Pretty plastics). Anything is an improvement on the current models interior. Come on i think you all must agree with me on that one. Any more basic and we will be back to the first cars ever made.
So because i have expressed a particular opinion i should NOT be driving. Pslewis, where do you get reasoning from. You'll need stronger glasses after you pull up alongside me at the traffic lights only to find my hideous monster pull away from you on amber and dissappear into the distance. Bye bye Pslewis.
Ok childish banter over with.

Perhaps rose-tinted lenses to replace the one's you're wearing out

Not exactly my cuppa. Looks like a Neon/Corolla hybrid.

Well, here in the states we're REALLY disappointed, because this was to be our first turbo. I purchased a MY00 2.5 RS, with plans on trading it when the WRX finally arrived. Now that I've seen it, the money for the WRX has been diverted to the RS I currently own. By the time the WRX makes it to America, I'll be running 12 psi with fully programmable engine management, hopefully around 270-280 hp. With my trade, I paid about $17k for my RS (around 11k pounds) - the turbo setup will cost, all told, about $7500US - so, given what I've already spent, I'll have a VERY fast RS for the price of a WRX. Congrats, Subaru, you've designed a car so ugly that you won't be getting my money.

What I'm hoping is this - here in the states, Ford introduced their new Taurus AHEAD of schedule - because the current body style was so disliked. Let's hope Subaru sees the light as well.
