Default newbie needs buying tips/advice

Hi

I was wondering if anybody could give me advice or tips on what to look out for when looking to buy an impreza turbo wagon.

I'm going to see one tomorrow.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Regards,

Rico.

1) Full service history, by main dealer or reputable specialist is a MUST. If it doesn't have this, walk away.
2) If you like what you see, get a professional inspection. (e.g. RAC)
3) HPI Check is also a must
4) Look for any signs of crash damage, obvious bodywork defects, uneven wear on the tyres etc.
5) Talk with the owner, what fuel do they use (SUL/optimax is preferred). Do they know what oil is in the car? An enthusiast/someone who has loved the car will.
6) Ask about any modifications, diligent owners should know exactly what has been done on the car.
7) Don't break the bank buying the car, these are not cheap cars to run and if they're not maintained properly, it'll all end in tears!

Happy hunting,

I'd also check your insurance for a proper "quote", as there are a lot will require a substantial alarm/immobiliser systems to be fitted before they will even give you any cover.

2nd that. Some insurers will insist on a tracking device to be fitted. They can cost around £400 plus the annual reg fees. If it has one ask which sort. if it's just a 'tracker monitor' then most insurance companies won't touch you.

Make sure it comes with 2 key fobs. They cost around £40 each especially as they have to be programmed. A mistake I made when I had a classic UK turbo.
