Default Forester STi is here.......

At last we had our Forester STi delivered to us on 23rd December after many delays because of this being the first ‘official’ STi in the Country and so needing a model report. The spec we ordered was:-

WR Blue Lux Pack comprising rear spoiler, tinted glass, heated folding door mirrors, wiper diffuser and rear fog lamps.
Milltek exhaust system.
ECU remap to suit UK.
Detachable towbar.
Rear parking sensors.

Please excuse the photo’s as they are the first taken with a new camera….

The interior is a vast improvement on our Impreza using higher quality plastics with padding behind to create a softer feel.

With the seats the same as our Impreza – only black.

The wheels are 18’s in silver with Brembo brakes and the same design as 05 Impreza’s

The Miltek has been fitted but still has the original back box at the moment until the Miltek back box has had a longer tailpipe made up

Running in the STi is being really painful with keeping the rev’s below 4k, but early impressions are that the power delivery is much like our old P1. You do sit quite high in the Forester and so when it just goes round a corner flatly the sensation is odd but rewarding and inspires a higher speed the next time. With the Miltek fitted and a UK remap to suit we should see around 300 bhp from the 2.5 boxer engine…just waiting for that 1k service now.

The stereo with 6-disc in dash changer is of surprising quality with 6 speakers, amp and sub-woofer in the boot area and the only niggle is that a wave band expander is required for the radio.

Overall the STI has been well worth waiting for and we enjoy it more each time we drive it.

Thanks to Iain Litchfield for getting the STi to us.

Looks like it was worth the long wait !

What's the ride like ? Exhaust sound ? (I know that isn't in its final form yet)

Only other thing I can think of is how do you wash the roof

The wife liked the Forrester when the WRX was in for gearbox problems. This could be a good alternative to Impreza next time.

The ride is very normal in everyday driving and then behaves like an Impreza when pushed hard.

The exhaust is very quiet at the moment, which i hope will change when the Miltek is 100% and hopefully sound like the Type 25.

The roof has a dirty strip down the middle where I can't reach.....

Need to decide on Crystal Grey or the Blue like yours. The Grey certainly has a different look to it, but then I've only seen one picture of that.

I'm also unsure about the Miltek, I guess it depends how much difference that actually makes compared to a good UK map for the original STi system. If the Miltek is louder then I'd probably stick with the original. - I assume yours counts as a modded import instead of just an import.... and yours has the AST suspension as well doesn't it ?

Pull yourself up on the roofbars and stand on the back wheel. I find I can reach almost everywhere using this method.

Superb looking Forrester you've got there.

The STi was imported as standard and the Model report reflected that, all modifications were done after it was registered. Unfortunately the AST suspension didn't fit due to the Forester struts being longer than the Impreza's however the standard setup is great and so now don't see a need for changing it.

Thumbs up Love it!

Great choice IMHO. One of my fav cars in the line up.

Drives indecently well for a soft-roader. High up on the list of potential B4 replacements right now (assuming of course that they don't change it prior to me being ready for a new car ).

Hope it serves you indecently well

very nice indeed Mr Mog, although I still think I'll be going for the UK spec Forester 2.5 XT, pity you can't get a hybrid of the two as there are apsects of both that I really like....
