Classic or Bugeye

Classic or Bugeye
Hi , i have been looking witha view to change my sport to a turbo model and have been looking at whats been available.
As my sport is an X plate facelift classic shape ,I still look at it and cant help but think it is still my favorite choice of scoob in the looks depatment.
I have recently looked at a 51 plate wrx in white and it is very nice especially the more modern interior (although the seats are some strange mix between old sport seats and new bucket type?)
Mainly I look for advice on driving characteristics of both , performance and servicing / running cost
Cheers Phil

This is a uk model and has caught my eye due to the fact it is white and you dont see many, also my fav scoob colour. Its a 51 plate with 21k also helps

Its the interior is one of my stumbling blocks are they good not being the usual seats in turbos, they are more like the sport seats in my classic shape but do seem pretty supportive

Classic all the way! If it's a MY00 it will have the latest classic tweaks (making sure it has air-con) and they drive a 1000 times better than any bugeye I've tangled with. Indeed the bug is a more refined car but this in my view was always regarded as the scoob that never was!

The other main thought is , When i owned a mk2 gti it was fab , a bit rattly but did everything well, then i got a mk3 and it just felt flat, too heavy if you know what i mean. Now my scoob is a classic and only a sport i know but it had the eibachs and geometry + other stuff and it handles superb. With the new models did the same feeling happen?

I think you'd be very happy with either mate. I can confirm that the bugeye doesn't feel as fast as the classic, but it's probably more of a subjective difference than objective one! Can also confirm that the bugeye is significantly more refined! Don't forget, either way you can bump the power up relatively inexpensively by work on exhaust and ECU. There probably isn't much you can do about the older car's refinement, though. Some people -e.g. me- couldn't give a damn, for others it might be an issue.
Not that you'd need to modify if you didn't want to; both cars are pretty darn rapid as standard :-)

Many thanks for the views , I am siting at night with cold sweats my heart or my head, both of them because one part of my head is saying wait i can get a latter model classic (the other part of my head is saying stick with what you got) because of the expense and because I feel they are the nicest looking impreza. The heart however is saying go for the bugeye as its fairly unique in the fact i have seen very very few white bugeye (and its my fav colour) and it does seem to have the edge on interior build quality, I still dont really like bugeye headlamps although the sti ones are nicer and its easy to change things like that
