In a word "NO" unless you have an exceptional mot tester (another vehicle used for this bit of the test) or you fit one cat back in the system.

Hello?

Little more info needed here Help yourself by being somewhat more specific!

I take it it's not a diesel and is not a Trabant or a 1929 Bentley Speed 8

Most important thing is the CO

Post 1992 on a UK registered running on petrol the limit is 0.3% CO
Pre 1992 is 3.5%CO

There are excemptions for non-EU imports prior to a certain year.

Now a car with a modern normal aspirated engine with SEFi, that is in top tune (and when I mean top tune I mean running abolsutely perfect) Can "just" past a post 1992 emssions test.

Engines such as impreza Turbos that run low compression ratios, have crap engine design, fueling system design or not running perfectly (which will include any car that's been used for local driving won't be) haven't got a prayer in hell of passing! That cover about 90% of post 1992 cars on the UK's roads.

Just to clarify that abit Ali-B it's less than 3.5% upto the end of J reg, ie August 1992 it changes to <0.3%

decat on my00 no up pipe, stuck old exhaust in boot (just fitted in) before the mot and service mentioned that if it didnt pass please put old exhaust and try again, I believe that if it fails and you go back to the same garage they have to retest for free, Passed with flying colours, a mates P1 failed so he borrowed my exhaust and took back to the dealer and it passed without even being unwrapped,
Good luck

On my my93 wrx i changed the exhaust on mine back to fully standard an it made no difference at all in fact it was giving worse readings luckily found a good tester but with the new equipment that comes in next year that wont be so easy which is a pain in the *** hopefully you manage to get it through mate but surely theres some peeps on here that have an idea of how to get the emissions as low as possible at as cheap a price as possible to save the bank each year?
