Default Removing Tar spots from the car

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a cleaning product that will remove tar spots from my Scoob. I gave it a clean yesterday and noticed that I have several on the wheel arches. Some of them are quite visiable so I would realy like to get them off without messing up the paintwork.

Cheers

I always use a tiny bit of white spirit but make sure to wash it down with plenty of soap and water afterwards!

Don't use a tar removal product, or white spirit, these will damage your paintwork. Instead use a small amount of Flora (the margarine spread). Dab it on the tar spots & rub gently with your finger. Then have a coffee for 10 mins & then polish off using a clean cotton cloth. The tar comes off easily, no damage to your paintwork & it's very cheap! You'll use less than a tea spoon of the stuff.

Idea passed to me by Mark Underwood aka the Wax Wizard.

Mer polish does it for me, but does use up time and elbow grease.

Clay bar is good too.

Last time I used Autoglyms tar remover it left my paint cloudy where I had used it and it kept coming back after polishing for about a year before it stopped. Suffice to say I won't be using that again

With spots or blobs you may well be right. With 'smears' of tar and the like, WD40 will shift it.
