TOP GEAR ON NOW

I drove an early version of the atom as part of the autocar sideways challenge a few years ago, and it was a bit of a pig to be honest.
Certainly looks like they've sorted all that out.
Have to say though, it's difficult to tell for sure from the tv shots, but I don't think the stig did it justice.
Cheers

Simon,
It all depends on the "Bung" ooops sorry, How good 'Good' or 'Bad' you want portray a certain 'Model' on Telly
look what he did to the WR1 in the EVO comparison
I will be the first to omit that the EVO over ther Scoob is the better handling Car
You must agree, with your driving skills, that to he drove the WR1 with DCCD badly, forcing it into understeer and to overegagerating it to make 'Good' Telly.
For a driver of his ability to drive an F1 Car you would assume he could drive anything then **** up in a WR1 and then an Atom if he can't adapt to the Cars ability he's now better than Mrs Jones @ No. 39 Prior Street
Sorry but sack the Stig and let Clackson drive as i have far more respect of him
IMHO

Really so why did it get 2nd on the track times then?
power to weight ratio gives it just over 600bhp!!!
Were you watching the same program?

Hi Tony
Regarding the "how good you want to portray it on telly", agreed to some degree, they may have just wanted it to drop in behind the ferrari.
Also, as scoobynutta said, it did look a little twitchy and sloppy.
Remember though, the stig can be different people, and it is very likely that the F1 car was driven by a F1 test driver, or someone like Damon Hill.
I don't actually remember the WR1 test (oops ), so can't comment on that, sorry.
Some of the stuff we've seen the Stig do has looked truly superb.. right on the limit, and very tidy. As I mentioned, the early Atom was very unfriendly to drive, and it just looked to me like he was struggling with the car a little.

No need to get sarcastic. This is an open discussion
I am suggesting one of two possibilities..
1) The shots they used were not from the fast lap
or
2) It could have gone even quicker.

Regardless of all this, I'm sure most of us got sticky palms and a little drewl in the corner of our mouths watch that thing
Cheers

Well I asked the mrs if we could remortgage our house so I could get one.
She politely said no.
I couldn't give a flying s*it if money changed hands to make it look good, I f*cking want one.

I was at the top gear site working when the stig had his run out in the Atom...
He said it desperately needed a rear wing because it was very light at the back when at speed..
This could have been the reason for the car looking very "twitchy"..
j-k

If you have a look at this thread, it has a link to the Top Gear Video Site. Have a look through the 'Gold' section and you'll find a clip of SdB doing his thing at the Sideways Challenge, driving the Atom

I find Clarkson hugely entertaining, I also consider him to be a bit of a clown - correction, a big clown actually!
Taking the complete pi** out of the "Pacific rim" (sounds like a sexually transmitted disease to me!) cars was a bit unfair. These cars do a perfectly fine job for the market they are aimed for. If a car takes more than 7 secs. to 60 it's immediatly verbally trashed - stupid attitude! Talking of trashed, Clarksons treatment of that poor motor going up hill in top gear until it completly stalled was stupid and totally pointless, it proved only one thing and that was nothing to do with the car!! His treatment of the EVO 8/400 the other week made me wince - 30mph, 6th gear, full throttle - just like I wince whenever I do it in my STi

I would agree, as I said below
The Piont I was trying to make(I had a few beers when i wrote my original Post) was I believe The WR1 was 'driven' in such a manner to 'Show' the viewer the difference.
Thanks for the reply my memory aint very good either LOL
