Default No Radio For Six Weeks!!

I have just taken out my Alpine Stereo so I can send it back to the internet retailer I brought it from to get it repaired. The `face off' front does not click into position, so the front falls off when you hit a bump. Fortunately it’s less than a year old so a repair is covered under warranty. Unfortunately it is likely to take SIX WEEKS to repair!!! What do I do? No radio. No music for six weeks.

Has anyone else found themselves in a similar predicament??

I dealt direct with Alpine service dept. when mine went back for warranty work - didn't want to send it back via Dabs due to the way things had (not) worked when I bought it...

Top job they did - had to replace cracked lcd panel inside the facia as they hadn't got another one - works fine now Supposed to be a few days work but took a couple of weeks as they couldn't get to it straight away due to backlogs - six weeks for a clip "replacement" is extracting the urine IMO - the internet company is covering their backs big stylee

Just over 3 years ago when I bought my last car I had a Pioneer head + changer + sub fitted that had been in the car before that. Was in for just under a week when someone permanently borrowed it, taking part of the interior with it.

The annoying thing was I was down in Northampton when it was stolen, and I had to endure a 3 hour drive to a race track on the Saturday morning, then a 7 hour drive home to Glasgow that evening. Luckily I wasn't alone, but it was still hard going.

I had to endure a month without a headunit whilst I saved up enough cash to replace it. A month of driving about an hour a day. Late at night after a hard day at work was tough.

That's taking the urine!

Give Alpine Service Dept a ring on 0870 3333 407 (9-5.30pm) lunch 1-2 and see if you can send it back direct. Turnaround is usually approx 5 working days.

Question

If you have an Alpine in, don't you have the old OE set you could put back for a while?

Went on the first longish journey today with no Stereo. I have to say it is a little odd but at the same time, strangely ok. The sound of turbo whistle layered over a flat 4 rumble blowing through my Magnex silencer provide a great substitute. Can't think of a better car to only have the engine to listen too. No rattles either!!

That said I'm only two days in. I'll keep you posted...

No radio did my head in after 1 week (2500 miles) in the ScoobyClinic Justy, with only the really odd whine of the rear differential to break the silence.
