Try and get a second hand mirror mate, i had a go at trying to get the glass out of the mirror and i almost bust it doing it, you can't get to the screws behind the glass.
If anyone has actually got one of i'd love to know, cus i couldn't!

I had the same thing, but my glass was completely gone, only had the black plastic back plate. had to stump up £106 for a complete new wing mirror!!! they do sell the glass but if you don't have glass to stick it to, you're screwed,

i,ve replaced 3 mirrors (glass only).they are stuck to the plastic backplate by double sided sticky pads-stuck like **** to a blanket.
bloody dangerous getting the old glass out. best count your fingers at the end.
it takes a bit of guts to get the little plastic rim over the edge of the mirror but be patient.
apparently halfrauds stock the glass but i've always got mine from the dealer.
cheers
