Default Another Subaru stolen - ours this time

Our Subarus just been stolen. It had a Disklok, cat 1 alarm and immobilisor (Toad AI606, wouldnt get another) and was parked off the road in a private car park.

In 13 years of car ownership Ive never had anyone try to nick any of my cars, and theyve all been sports cars of one caliber or another. A couple of months of owning a Subaru and we had one attempted theft and then this morning someone took it.

"Get an Impreza, attract the attention of the scum of the world"

Great

Sorry to hear this - not much consolation, but at least you and your family weren't hurt.

What model was it and what area - could keep an eye out for it......

Yeah, Im aware that it could have been much worse

Its a Type RA but to be honest I dont want it back, its not worth the worry waiting for some other ****** to have a go. I liked the car but good riddance, its not worth the agro.

As you say, they could have woken us up in the middle of the night for the keys. I dont want a car that attracts that sort of attention

How? A Tracker would have been a wise move but its a bit late now. Our 200s will be getting them, Im booking the cars in today.

The alarm was a Toad AI606 btw, complete waste of time. I dont know if any other alarm would have protected the car any better but I know for a fact that the Toad was pretty much useless so Id never fit one again.

very sorry to hear tha - definately the worse part of owning a nice car, tossers who think it is their right to take them. What have the police said? ('sorry mate, you weren't speeding?')

The police have done what youd expect. They made all the right noises but we all know theres pretty much sweet fa they can and/or will do.

It seems a Tracker is the only thing that gives you a chance of getting your vehicle back. The Disklok and cat 1 alarm/immobilisor dont do a great deal. They will have slowed the thieves down but if they started on the car at 2am that gave them four hours to finish the job. Whats going to stop them with four hours working time to play with?

The threat of castration! or the knowledge that they will go to prison if caught! fact is even if caught there isn't a lot the police can do because the courts have gone soft.

Sorry to hear that m8.

Personally, I would get back on the horse again. Otherwise they win.

I was in court in jedbugh the other day (my missus got caught speeding). There were a couple of car theiving TW*TS infront of us... one got 4 months because he was a regular visiter of the court and the other got some CS... because it was blamed on booze... "oh but he doesnt drink anymore and he didnt know what he was doing..." BULLSH*T!!!

Theiving scum should be shot!

(Just IMHO )

Don't be too downhearted and blame the Scoob. I had my Sierra XR4x4 stolen twice in two years - the alarm and immobiliser were by passed and the physical security very skillfully disabled.
Good news was the first prat could not drive it properly and injured himself whilst trying to flee the boys in blue - did some car damage tho and the second never got to use for the crime he had planned thanks again to the boys in blue. (They get it right - sometimes.)
My three and half years of Scoob ownership have been trouble free in that department - so far.
but if they really want it only a Tracker will save you.

In the last 2 weeks, there have been 2 Imprezas, 1 Audi S3 and a Celica GT4 taken from the supposedly "Nice" housing dvelopment I live on! An Aston Martin DB7 Vantage also had an attempt made to remove it from the garage it sat in.

These scum need their right hands cutting off, and if they were castrated, it'd stop them breeding! *******!

I wouldnt consider buying another Subaru until we at least had a secure and well alarmed garage to keep it in. Although Ill still be bricking it whenever I left it parked anywhere

Red face

Sorry to hear of the increasing number of thefts - seems to be getting worse for the Scooby / evo brigade. The reason I sold my last Scooby 2 years ago, was I was followed a couple of times & i noticed several occasions with suspicious individuals waiting in a car outside our house. I decided the best way was sell & now have a car with no spoilers to attract attention - an E39 M5; no one seems to pay any attention to it so far; maybe that is the best way to go for some of you as well
Good luck with your future cars.

Very sorry to hear of your loss mate. I've just had a Toad Ai606 fitted to my Scooby so might have to rethink security. Did they actually break into your car or did they just tow it away?

It seems that quite a few theives are just jacking cars up and towing them off to a warehouse where they can work on them for hours. The Toad alarm doesn't have a tilt or proximity sensor (unlike Clifford) so it wouldn'y have sounded. Looks like a tracker is on the cards for me now.

Sounds like it was 'lifted' onto a recovery type truck and taken somewhere quiet to be worked on.
I doubt if even the Police would stop and ask questions if it was seen on the back of a transporter in the early hours........i use to do recovery work for a large garage and was never stopped and asked the why and where fors when moving cars in the early hours.

No punishment is good enough for these scum...

Very saddened to hear of your loss. Agree with the sentiment of don't let the fuc*ers get you down, though. Take the insurance money and go out and by yourself an even better one! There's no reason you should go though life scared of treating yourself lest some little ****e comes along comes along and takes it from you.

Best wishes,

Thanks guys

They definately worked on the alarm because we found part of the loom on the floor the next morning. It looked like the wiring going into the siren.

They could well have towed it away, who knows. It doesnt really matter now.

I would defo, 100%, get some sort of tracking device fitted. As Ive already said it seems a cat 1 alarm and disklok arent going to do much for you.

sorry 2 hear mate,

but whatever the threads on here say about alarms and trackers etc it will never deter a pro once they have marked your car for order i am afraid

these people will buy the alarm systems and pull em apart for weakneses
They will also take the interior apart and windows etc any thing with etching or codes, they know how these cars are put together and they know the weak spots, they even know where trackers would be fitted and maybe how to jam or confuse the signal maybe ?

i still think a baby monitor is the cheapest and most secure, but only 4 when car is at home ,out on the town and ya knakered IMHO

ps, squeeze evry drop of dosh from the insurance, refuse first 3 offers ?

instead of goin easy on these twocer scum they should taser their ***** off. I mean how many cars do these scum have to steal before they get sent down its usally a community service order 4 the first couple of offences, then when they do get sent down its for about 3 months makes me sick

If someone want's a car badly enough they'll taking and noone can stop them.

Classic case here. http://www.channel4.com/4car/news/ne...?news_id=11412
It also had a state of the art tracking device, but it was jammed allegedly.

Oh for the right to protect our own property
