Default jap vs euro vs uk

if i am correct

there are the following
uk models = all basic 100% uk subaru loves em (most expensive)
euro imports = full uk spec subaru(UK) won't be too happy you bought from some where else/ mid price
jap imports = higher spec and higher power, but need converting to be used in the uk, cheap to mid price

BUT can someone tell me what the depreciation for these imports
and insurance wise how much more (less)hundreds?

I think it's true to say that the depreciation on the Jap cars is slightly worse than UK spec, as I've seen some very cheap ones around. Either that or someone can get them very cheaply from overseas.

Insurance? Certainly more expensive, as I've been quoted £750 for a Spec C Ltd against £405 for a WR1.

£405 for a WR1
where do you live, outer mongolia!
that is well cheap, best I can do on a P1 with L&V is £1100!

uk models, jap cars with all the good bits taken off, which are then sold back to you as "PPP"
euro models, jap cars exactly the same as uk models, but dealers wont touch em with a bargepole
jap models, proper fully specced cars, more power, more toys (dccd, rear wash, folding mirrors) not much more to insure, sometimes same

My car is a Euro import MY00 and I've never had a problem with servicing. Insurance on EU cars must be the same as UK due to EU law. EU/UK cars not as spec'd as Jap cars but it down to personal opinion as to which to buy.

Not much benefit buying EU over UK really. UKs may well be out of warranty by now so EU/UK prices should be about the same.

I bought mine becuase it had full Sub history and is Sonic Blue which wasn't available in the UK except on P1 and Terzo.

I've owned imports and they've always been more expensive to insure and I believe buying a car with known history is added peace of mind - don't fancy getting stranded on M4 with the family. May well happen with UK but perhaps less likely.

Only reason I would go for import now would be to want an STI or something not available here.

Not sure who you're getting covered by but every jap car I've tried to insure has been 50% to 100% more than a UK / euro spec

for example:

UK spec - 1996 MK1 MX-5 1.8i - £300
Jap import - 1992 Mk1 MX-5 1.6i - £476
UK spec - 1995 RX-7 £752
Jap import 1994 RX -7 lowest quote £970 (with £500 excess)

Nissan Skyline 1998 R34 GTT - £1400+ with £750 excess I only manged to find 4 companies who a) knew the car existed and b) where prepared to give me a quote

Just for info I'm 33 with a clean lience for 15+ years with full NCB

Many insurance companies won't touch imported cars or want silly premiums, trackers etc.

Don't think there are any issues with dealers on EU sourced cars, servicing and parts supply from the main dealers is exactly the same as if it was a UK sourced car...
