How long do you spend cleaning your car??
My G/F calls me sad because i spend about
1hr and a half cleaning the inside
1hr and a half to wash the car and flexi/chamos it dry
1hr and half to fully wax the car and buff
20 mins to tidy up the other bits i.e tyre shine sideskirts etc
oh not to forget 10 mins polishing the blitz nur spec (she really does pull her face for this one)
also once done, rain - x all windows (about 15 mins)
you dont see me moaning when she takes 3 hrs in the bathroom every morning onder2:
oh well these things have to be done!!!!

mine is black and I live in the mids of some fast but muddy Norfolk/Suffolk B roads so just keep a pressure washer on stand by.
Black is a pain to keep looking good this time of year!! - takes at least 3 hours to wash, dry and then a quick once over with the Muir (quicker than waxing) Golds wheels show the brake dust but you have got to keep on top of it.

mine takes up about 2hrs of every one of my weekends! :-)
I don't mind in the least though. I find it quite relaxing and is my time to consolidate my bond with the car. You know when you're seriously happy with your car when you can say that! ;-)

Washed 2-3 times a week... polished atleast once a month... when the decent weather is here, as much wax as I can be bothered to put on it, has to be spotless all the time in the summer...
When I do give it a full valet.... spend most of a sunday on it inside and out... even jack it up and clean inside the arches... etc.... sad really but relaxing... out the way from her indoors...

My last good going over took 13 hours, and that was just the outside!
Rinse - Wash - Rinse - Dry - Coffee Break - Touch Up Patrol - Paint Cleaner On - Paint Cleaner Off - Coffee Break 2 -Polish On - Polish Off - Coffee Break 3 - Wax On - Wax Off (Daniel-san!) - Follwed by Back to Black on the sills etc & wonder wheels on the alloys and a photo or 2 before a cat decides to sit on the bonnet.
Usually get "our lass" to do the windows, then it's just a case of going at the inside with the Dyson and a duster...
ta-da!!

Every day at the moment (its a black un). Usually spend a full sunday washing waxing touching up and valeting, much to the disgust of the wife, apparently their are better things to do inside the house on a sunday (oo er missus).

Blimey, you people.... I haven't washed it for about 4 months, because every time i used to wash it, it would rain half an hour later, so I got a bit disheartened...
oh, and in the process, I've made this incredible discovery.... the car doesn't self destruct if there are specks of dirt on the outside (yes I know it probably doesn't do my paint any good)

Seems to take me forever to wash my wagon. I always think it's because I must be doing a really good job, but I always miss bits. I'm totally pants at it to be frank. I always prefer washing mine actually in the rain for two reasons, 1. you get wet when you wash your car anyway, and 2. you don't have to dry the car because the rain water washes the hose water off and doesn't leave any white marks behind. Bargain.

I was the car every Sunday but wax about every 2 months or so. I was under the impression it doesn't do the paintwork any good if you do it every week. Is that right?

When it gets so dirty that I don't want to touch it I pay the local hand wash place £6 to wash it for me.
I personally have a lot better things to do than spend hours every weekend washing my car.

a couple hours
but if im doing the full monty, then its a whole day that includes washing, drying, polishing, interior, and also engine bay. I dont believe in a steam cleaning and engine, i prefer the tidy manual wipe here and and there with a cloth

To really make it seem worthwhile consider the following...... last car I sold had been washed 2 or 3 times a week polished twice a month. The day I sold it the new owner wrote it off. Insurance paid £2k over book due to its condition. £2k is a lot of polish..........

G/F has just seen the posts and calls us all sad and i recived a nice slap round the head for saying she takes 3 hrs in the bathroom (nice)
she dosent moan when i give her car the special treatment!!!!
anyway i finally got round to giving the engine bay a clean up with that CD2 stuff by turtlewax pretty good stuff, now the whole car is spanking - but back to square 1 next week
it makes me laugh when people say its a waste of time washing your car as its going to rain (which normally it does straight after!!!!) as i see it - it gives your paint that extra protection it needs (god i am sad!!)
keep up the good work
regards
Jud
