Default RECIRC - BAD FOR ENGINE

After running around with a vta on for a few months I fancied a change so fitted the standard recirc. Soon after any time i give it WOT the KL would do its Blackpool routine and was only holding 1.2 bar instead of the 1.4 its mapped for. After posting it was put down to:- bad optimax batch, spark plugs, fuel pump, maf. I used a few tanks of fuel from a different garages, fitted new plugs (which wasn't as bad of a job as I thought it might of been). Then swapped the standard for a forge recirc, got all of me boost back and no activity on the KL (but checked it was still working) thank **** for the KL!

Is the standard recirc not suitable for increased boost pressure?

pressuming it was leaking am I right in thinking that in vacume it would run lean but on boost it would run rich. So when you first press the accelarator to the floor it would be briefly lean on boost which would cause the det before going rich? anywhere near?

cheers Stevie

isnt it that your car was mappoed for a vta WRT air flow meter?
you then change back to recirc and afm values are all out.
hence car not happy.

I think upon a search you will find that all evidence points to recirc being better for your car and vta causing problems (eg idle issues).
you have mapped your way around this but it means your stuck until you can change the map to the new afm values.

yeah it was mapped with a vta on but Bob Rawle said put a recirc on - good enough for me.

since the car has been mapped i've swapped from vta /recirc a few times with no probs.

I think you missed the point mate!

When I took off the standard recirc I replaced it with a forge recirc

It has been known for the OE recirc to leak past 1.2 bar.

However I read your first post and also thought you had your car mapped to suit a VTA. If so any recirc would lean up the AFR if its dumped post MAF.
