100k miles here, 300+brake and only a V.
engines can let go whenever, be it 20k, 30k 100k.
I prefer a car with a few miles under its belt as it means it has been used and chances are that with a high miler its had a lot of motorway miles so its got warm and no real major strain under cruise conditions.
better that than some 20k motor thats only been to the shops and never been warmed properly!

Probably the best thing to do for piece of mind is to budget in a complete service when you get it (ie clutch, belts, all fluids changed, brake pads etc) and then if worst comes to worst you know you can get the bits replaced. One owner for that period of time suggests they have taken care of it, especially if they have been servicing it at regular intervals by Subaru.
Good luck!
