Service History
I have found a car to buy which matches my spec.
The one drawback is that it does not have receipts from the previous owner, although the service book is stamped.
The current owner (who has her receipts) has tried to contact the previous subaru garages but they no longer exist.
She has also contacted the previous owner who registered the car in his company name, he is not prepared to search for the receipts.
She has spoken her Subaru dealer who have said they will send me a letter to verify that the car has full subaru service history as they would not sell a car without one.
Do you think this is good enough or am I far too fussy?
BTW I have to let the owner know at 8pm tonight if I want to go ahead and buy the car. (subject to inspection)

Clearly it's your money so you have to be happy - if you're not then walk away 'cause there are plenty of other scoobs out there.
But in my experience lots of owners don't keep their receipts, they just assume a service stamp will be enough...
How far back does the current owners service history go?

Current owner goes back 2 years which includes a cambelt change (with receipts).
It is the best that I have viewed.
My gut feeling is that it is ok, I just want some opinions.

if you want i some receipts i can sort you them out for a price
i would not worry about receipts, you need to try and gauge the person selling the car, speak with the garage that has serviced recently etc. if you like the car get it inspected by the RAC or AA. Like shortboy said if you have any doubts walk away as there are many more scoobs for sale.
