DIY Camdrive belt swop takes thirty minutes on my Montego Turbo - a little more on the Tomcat turbo .... not a five minute job on the Subaru I reckon .... anyone know the average cost on the Imp? Guess it's part of a larger service routine .... Whatever - a useful saving for the competent DIYer.

Not a bad job once you've done it once or twice. Made a bit easier if you've got the markings on the new belt (or by marking them yourself).

Had to do one on the lad's Clio 1.2 in September, what a ball-aching job THAT was!

Engine mounts to undo, engine to support, exhaust off, cam cover bolts inaccessible, and 3 different types of bolt, (Torx, hex key and hex head).

You need triple jointed hands the size of a 12 year old girl to do that job!

Mind you, he did snap the belt, so it was a cylinder head off, two exhaust valve moment:

Did the entire job for £120 though, even though it took me best part of 3 days!
