Default Buying 2003 UK STi PPP - advice please!

Looking at car tomorrow.

Not a novice, know the models etc and PPP spec

What specifically should I check - for sale by local garage (not known to me)

How to check PPP
What does VIN No tell me
What should I check with I.M.
What should I check physically?
Does buying from a Dealer protect me from the main horrors of ownership and major crash damage?
What should hot oil press be at what revs? (new oil and filter)
Any vin nos to avoid?
specifically what tracker and immobiliser does it need and how do I check
Best Insurance companies (age 49 - yes, I know,,,.. full ncb, rural location)
etc

thanks

Tracker wise it will be fitted with RAC Trackstar. There should be all the blurb regarding that. Get a system test ASAP.

Immobiliser will be the standard Sigma one connected to the standard alarm system.

Most importantly get it HPI'd

Never have been one to understand the reliability of HPI - cant the original owner re-finance the car 5 mins after the HPI check thus making it worthless?

If buying from Dealer, who says they have HPI it - would they have any paperwork to verify - do I need to do another, if so, how and how much?

cheers

Worth asking if it has had the recall for the possible oil leak. Theres a thread a couple of pages back I'll see if I can find it.
