Just got back from holiday to find the battery flat.....
Left my motor ('03 STi) standing for 2 weeks, and when I got back the battery was completely dead. ( ....good holiday though... ). The subaru assist guy started it up, I gave it a run to recharge it, & it's been fine since. The guy told me this is common - after a week or so the alarm drains the battery. Says he gets called out to this all the time at the long-stay car park at Gatwick.
Is this kosher, or should I be paying my dealer a visit?

Seems to be a little problem with these batteries, i think the dealers replace them with a heavy duty item (you should see the one in my car, smaller than in most MY01 onward STi's and absolutely brill )

i'm on my 4th battery! (MY04 STi UK) 6months old 3.5kmiles. took dealer a while to admit RAC trackstar not shutting down into sleep mode & constant drain on battery. Had a 1hr sleep mode brd fitted @ work by tracstar people (touch wood seems ok) but then again i have not been on a weeks hol yet?
got to the stage where i might just end up getting a draper batterymaster and using that when im away in the garage (on timer switch) for peace of mind?
regards

I can't remember the details, and I can't put my hand on the instructions at the mo, but when you have to leave your car for a long time, can't you activate the alarm using the keypad in such a way that disables the key fob from being able to turn on/off the alarm?
When you get back from holiday you need to use the key to open the door and punch in your pin on the pad to turn off the alarm. But apparently the alarm does not drain the battery so much
Someone correct me if I am wrong

http://www.surreyscoobies.co.uk/sigma.docYes, as you can see, you should set the alarm in holiday mode, then it won't drain the battery so much. loads of other useful features in the above.

Thanks - that's really useful. Bought my scoob 2nd hand and the alarm booklet has gone missing, so this is all news to me. Time to go and have a play.....
