A Recce Car is a normal road car (with extra safety equipment installed) that rally teams have and is driven by the driver and accompanied by the navigator to 'recce' the rally stages pre-event.
In the case of SWRT they're white Scoobs with rollcages and some er other bits on them

They are not that standard... My mate owns an ex ford reccie car and its a serious bit of kit. It has anti lag, water inj, grp N Shell, Ohlins coilovers, AP 310 mm brakes etc etc. It was used by both McRae and Saintz!
Very nice car and now its had the restrictors taken off and new turbo etc its seriously quick.
