Random bloke in car park: "What engine's in that?" - Should I be worried?
Monday morning, I'm just leaving Halfrauds in Liverpool after a failed attempt to buy touch up paint, a 1.2 Corsa in a really horrid shade of turquise pulls sideways in front of my new Legacy, not blocking me in or anything, the driver, a bloke in his 30s or 40s, doesn't look like a chav, asks what engine is in it and is it an import"
I reply "why do you ask" and he says he's just never seen one before, then drives off.
Do people actually do this sort of thing to decide if a car is worth robbing or do you reckon he was just genuninely interested, anyone had or heard of cars getting nicked in similar circumstanced.
Fortunately, I'm not going to be back in Liverpool until at least the tail end of next week but I'm getting increasingly paranoid about this car, my door was keyed within 3 days of purchase, my spoiler appears to have picked up a small scratch too (though that could just have been a stone) and now random scousers are taking an interest in it.
Any suggestions?

Nah. You've just been looking at Scoobynet too much. All the horror stories are here. No-one posts threads about friendships that start like this and are motivated by common interest in cars. Don't let all the bad tales ruin your enjoyment of your motor. Having said that...**** happens...and it was Liverpool (just kiddin' )

It's just that the very first question was the engine size.
If he'd asked what car it is (since the B4 has no Subaru badging on the front) I may not have been so worried.
I'm regularly hearing horror stories about stolen cars from a few mates of mine, though they are Nova enthusiasts* though :P
*ie. working on a Cav 2.5 V6 powered 4WD Nova saloon with no body styling

Yoza, If you had asked him for the time that would have been suspicious!

Lum.
Don't let it worry you.
I visit Liverpool to see my mum twice a week, never had anything but respect from the local 'Nova' crew.
The majority of people are just interested in cars and anything different they are just curious about.
I run a WRX Wagon and you have to look closely to find the word Subaru on it (wheel centres and in small letters on the tailgate, so a lot of people ask 'is that a Scooby?' and then you get reactions like 'cool. I didn't know they did estates' and the usual 'how fast is it'.
Don't let it worry you, the majority of scousers are good people who mean no harm.

It can be worrying, but I do believe there are a lot more people out there who are just interested in cars generally compared to those who have, shall we say, an unhealthy interest in just a few cars. In fact I used to dread pulling up at the lights in my Westfield for just that reason - although nobody tended to remain within earshot for long after the lights went green

I always get people asking questions about my car, don't worry about it.
I will be in Widness this weekend visiting the inlaws. I have been waved to by an older guy in a green bugeye from Widness a few times, anyone on here?

The first time I ever spoke to some1 about scoobys was in a very dodgy area of birmingam (new town) and he stopped and answered all my questions and poped the bonnet aswel.
Very nive bloke it was about 3 years ago. He had a Green scooby and was a copper.

They are closing the golfcourse(St MICHAELS) because Arsenic (sp) is pumping up through the greens, nice.
Golfers have been told to be careful when cleaning their *****.
This is true.
PS. One of my abodes is in Widnes, and I love it.
Peace and tranquility......
Why do I choose words I cant spool...?
