Default Scooby Good move or regretting it?

Well I've had my Scooby nearly 6 months now and I was wondering if anyone who's owned one for only 6 months is regretting buying one??? or are glad they bought one like I am

I was trying to think of the bad points of Scooby ownership and i'm really struggling to find any!!!!!
I think the only one is that all the boy racers want to have a go.....

The fuel consumson doesn't bother me too much.
Servicing is grate with me getting the free servicing when I bought mine.
Members clubs and online resources is like no other car I've had

Apart from cars that don't fit in my garage, i wouldn't want any other car right now.

Had mine for about 6 months now. I've got an T reg RB5, always wanted a scooby and am over joyed at owning one. The major plus is the smile factor, i think the cars great.

Not worried about the running cost because its a dream car for me.
The one negitive point i do have though is the general cost of anything for a subaru. Everywhere seems to add just a little more to a price once they hear those words 'Impreza'.
Not concerned about general parts but things like cosmetic upgrades, clear indercator for instance £70 just for the front pair is a bit much. My old XR2 had front indercators the size of subaru side lights, they still only cost £20.

Suburu ownership is great and to be honest i couldn't be happier, but i do think the prices of some items take the p***.

Regretting it??? Are you mad! I know there are those who would say that there are 'x' amount of cars that are ultimately faster, more grip etc.... but they're missing the point. Subaru got it right with the Impreza, it's so well resolved for UK roads and no other car for this kind of money has the Scooby's character and especially the noise! I even got a thumbs up from a SL55 AMG driver the other day...praise indeed!

IMHO Running costs are not too bad given the performance. The Community is fantastic and really contributes to the ownership experience and the people I've taken the car to for attention have been a pleasure to deal with.

As the classic has got older some examples have fallen into the wrong hands, but that will pass! Despite this, it's still a car.

Downsides: You do have to make every effort to make sure they aren't pinched and develop a suspicious nature quickly! and -if you drive at the speed limit- some people go to extrodinary and sometimes very dangerous lengths to overtake you, just so they can say they overtook a scooby

I wouldn't swap it for love nor money and I hope I never have to drive a "normal" car again!

My mates love it too. The current GF doesn't seem that impressed, so she may have to go! Says it all really doesn't it!

Best

The only downside is not having a clue what to replace it with when the time comes .........no i tell a lie, the problem is not having the money to replace it with something quicker when the time comes......

Cool

Had mine for nearly 3 years now, some of the costs are a bit fierce, servicing etc, but still much more reasonable than many cars of similar performance.
Paranoia goes with owning one, I'm always searching for suitable spots in car parks, etc...
I sometimes think about changing to something which does more than about 18 to the gallon but just can't see myself being happy with anything else now except another scooby.
And the community, waving etc.. I'm pretty sure there isn't another make quite like it.
So I'm a self confessed Scooby addict now.

Ian..

Finally got my WRX in February and we are enjoying it. My wife's now talking about me having an STi - "some chance" I reply "unless we get a cash injection". I'm quite happy for now - but ask me again next year.......

Had an MY99 Wagon from September 2001 up until March 31st 2004. Now I'm on my 2nd one, an MY04 Wagon.

I'm always thinking...

a) there's something wrong with it
b) it's not fast enough
c) gearbox sounds odd

...but also...

d) must put the window down at the lights to hear the 'thud thud'
e) wonder if I can take that bend a little faster
f) what 'mod' should I do next
g) where am I going to get the money from to do that 'mod'
h) ooooo a wet roundabout

It's been an expensive 3 years, but what fun I've had. I've meet some good people along the way and some true enthusiasts for the brand.

Can't see another car coming anywhere near the Scoob for the overall package...... well maybe an RS6 Avant, but that's proper money

I've had mine 3 months and I have had an engine rebuild in that time due to a dodgy dealer!!
I still don't regret getting it though it's a car i've always wanted and now it's running spot on i'm really enjoying it.

read my mind except I'd have to change to an RS4 (the 6 is HUGE)...always on the look out for interesting noises or unusual vibration!!!

Only had mine 10 days.

Am waiting for the tax and insurance to run out (Nov) on my current runaround (Mk6 Escort) before selling it.

So apart from the 150 mile trip home, its been sat on the drive since then.

Cant' wait to get in it.

Love the noise, handling, turbo rush, looks.

Have been up and down a quite private road a few times just to keep it moving every few days .

Roll on Novemeber................................Xmas a month early this year

If nothing else the sound is worth every penny. My friend said "it sounds like a muscle car".
Listen to the sound of your Impreza with a good exhaust bouncing off the wall of a tunnel as you gun it in 3rd and you'll be smitten.
Not to mention the turbo rush addictiveness

Had mine for 4 months and love it, dream come true! Even having to have over a month not driving due to knee surgery . As with most worry about theft but you can only do what you can and if someone is that keen to rob then that's why I have insurance and would rather not have it back.

Like most keep looking at mods vs cost as well as not screwing up the warranty and free servicing small print but will have till wait until I get a cash injection. Community is wicked and waiting for the day to be spotted (not by the OB!)

I got the thumbs up from a WPC the other day whilst our cars were side by side at a roundabout!

Well, I got mine today. 05 STi, in Grey, and it Pi$$ed down !
Set the rev light to 3,500, and it's doing me in already. This will be the longest 1000 miles I've ever done!
Can't wait till I can drive it properly, (and sensibly) It's just very difficult not letting go. 78 miles so far, and counting !

Thumbs up

Had mine since march. Decided to buy one after having a blast in my mates classic and watching CW42's videos, a few weeks later I drove mine off the dealer forecourt, not looked back since.

Pros
Fun to drive
Comfortable seats (better than the VW or the Merc IMHO)
Scooby community - Events etc
GF finished with me when I bought the car (sick with worry )
The noise from up front when I stick my foot down

Cons
Very tight in my garage (oo-er)
Boyracers and police men driving up your ****.

As for running costs, well yes more frequent oil changes and it drinks more petrol. All balanced out by the enjoyment of the car. Not enjoyed a car so much since I had my company merc, the scoob cost a quater of that (second hand). Plan to keep it for some years to come but if I had to replace it I would buy another. Can't imagine going back to 'normal' motors. Indeed, I refuse to!

The scoob has become a necessity in my life. I love it.

well, I love mine, although finances have been a struggle since I got this one, my first, well someone ploughed into me within 6 days of ownership (uk waggon) but it gave me the bug, so I bought a 95 WRX STI RA ( wanted diff cont and roof vent) although after 10 days the engine went so it's now sporting a 2.5 with an exedy flywheel and clutch, it turned out the previous owner had made it go untill I got it home, and had been seriously hammered and not looked after, but now, it has a place in my heart, and i will sell my house before the scoob.everything that needs to be done is done there and then (mrs isnt impressed tho) I dont think I'll ever sell it, I'll just get a STI 2dr ver6 with roof vent, and turn this into a track car. live for the moment, and live the dream.
