Question

The radio in my import works with our fm frequencies, but the display is 18 out - eg, Virgin radio is 87.8 instead of 105.8

Does this meen my radio has been converted, and I can do no more, or is the conversion only required for the display in the first place?

Your radio has been converted and theres very little else you can do im affraid.

There are 3 (i think) different types of band expander ranging from crap to acceptable, but with all of them the display is never sorted, it just allows it to go to frequencies the japanese do not use.

Wink

Bright Kar,

That's because your radio has not got the dongle fitted. I expect all you can listen to is Radio 2 and MW (like me).

When mine arrived it was 10 out, eg radio 1 was 88.8 instead of 98.8, being a pleb I thought they'd not modded it, until I acutally sat down and played with the radio.

This did not bother me too much as I was fitting a new head unit and cd changer, thus the jap spec unit was coming out, so it's now sitting in my loft.

If you do want to pick up all the UK channels and have the correct display then the only real option is to get another head unit. The price depends on what make/model/features you want.

Cheers guys,

The reason I ask is because the agreement with my importer included a radio (which obviously has to work over here) - what I don't know is whether a working radio should include the frequency displaying the correct figure, and therefore whether I can get them to do more.
