Question A purchasing Conundrum

I have a 5 door MY02 WRX which runs out of warranty in Feb. I am considering a new STI (import) but my head tells me to do another year or so in the current car. To do this, I would want to get more get more power out of it for the period. I might even run it until the MY06 (or is it 7) when I believe the Imprezagets a complete upgrade.

I do 20K per year and need very good reliability and do not want to sacrifice mpg too much. It seems that the PPP is great if you still ahve a warranty but for me I want max increase in performance with little decrease in reliability for around £1,000.

Having discussed it with my insurers (Tesco) they will increase my premium by the same % increase in power.

I know there are no simple answers to this but I would appreciate some considered views.

Thanks.

Hmmm - no doubt you would grin more in a remapped STi import, however, according to my experience, I would not be too worried about the warranty thing. I had my STi V for over 5 years and it had not one single fault or problem.
