Congratulations and welcome to the club. Yes it is customary to wave at other Scooby drivers. Sadly these days very few wave back!

Try posting some pictures of your car up on the board when you get some time.

Cheers

Yes it's customary to wave at other Subarus. Some even wave back!

I'd also wave at Skoda Octavia vRS owners as most of those used to own a Subaru

Enjoy!

I'm part of the Essex Scooby Crew mate!

Although my car has been seen at some of the meets when Kent Scoobies are around and I have seen it in pics taken by Pele so it may well be on there.

Cool

Welcome M8. Have to agree with the colour. I almost bought black, but was seduced by the blue in a well lit showroom Often feels like a mistake now, but what the hell, next one can be black. Anyone wanna swap a black 03 WRX PPP wagon for a WR Blue WRX PPP saloon

Oh, and do the wave. It makes the world seem a friendlier place

PS. To post piccys you'll need an account (free) at somewhere like www.photobucket.com , then just copy the "IMG" from the panel below the thumbnail and paste into a post on here.

Need to get yourself a pic uploader such as www.photobucket.com and then link them in to the gallery.

it's to help with the mixture when you press the loud button, which only really comes into effect when the weather is warm & dry.

Cool damp weather more or less helps with the mixture anyway....

It sprays a fine mist of water onto the intercooler to further chill the air for more boost. Press it just before overtaking, or when you want to impress someone If you look into the bonnet scoop you'll see the nozzle.

PNB, it has nothing to do with the mixture. The air which enters the engine doesn't get in through the scoop. The air (and mist of water) entering through the scoop serves only to cool the induced air via heat transfer to increase power. The induced air comes in through the from under the front edge of the bonnet and is channeled into the wing into a resonator (silencer) and filter box and then through the turbo and onto the I/C before entering the inlet manifold. You may be confusing it with systems such as Aquamist which spray water in the inlet manifold to gain bigger expansion of gasses on combustion (ie, water is 6x denser than air and expands over 40x when superheated, if I am remembering my physics correctly)

Ueful Piccy....

well that's told me aint it......

Does it not cause the air passing through the intercooler to be more dense ?

excellent diagram, must print the picture & keep it by my bed...

Good one

Chilling the air does not create more boost By chilling the compressed air (charge) from the turbo it creates a more dense mixture, lets the engine make more power safely, without the risk of detonation.

And you wont't stop looking at it, after a year of owning MY01 STi i still look at the beauty...

Enjoy the power though because eventually that initial feel of the drive goes a little and you settle into the car so enjoy it buddy!!

(what i mean by settle is that your adrenaline goes down after you get used to the car and your pants become less full from sh*tting it)

there is nothing worse than waving at someone and when they ger closer, you realise it is a farmer and his wife or similair in their estate (nothing wrong with estates.) if someone does not wave and i have, i usually honk my gay horn in disgust!!!
