I finally bit the bullet and sold my megane convertible for £5300 and bought a k-reg Saloon WRX import.

I have a problem though. Yesterday the heaters stopped working and the cigarette lighter doesn’t work either?

I’m not bothered about the cigarette lighter because I don’t smoke, but are they linked??


My girlfriend tested the cigarette lighter by burning her finger – shortly before the heaters stopped working.

Has using the cigarette lighter broken the heater?

Also, how much do you think Subaru will charge me for a spare key?

If you only got one key, like I did, just get down the local shoe shop type place and get one cut. Only cost a fiver. However, he did put the blank on with "Datsun" on it because it didnt conform to the Subaru keys he had on file. The key worked no problem though.

Done that, got one cut from the local market and have had problems with it.


Opens the doors, starts the engine - but sticks a lot, and with it in the ignition the car cuts out? Might be getting stuck at the off position i don't know.

The key he's given me looks a different thickness - he used a Nissan blank.

VTEC to Turbo

My Dad said he got one for 18 pounds from Subaru, (don't see why it should be more for an import).

As for your other problem, sorry I haven't got a clue.
