Have just returned from having Uni-chip fitted to the car.
BIG difference, the car really pulls.
Fifth now feels like fourth and the car seems to run smoother and quite a bit better on the fuel.Hold 18-19lb on full boost ie flat down in fifth.
I have to say that I was I bit worried about having it fitted to a MY00 but let me tell you it is well worth it.

Thanks Rich

Thought you might like it and good to meet you today.

Car seemed very happy on the Unichip on the rollers today, good solid power and man was a load of fuel taken out.

If Rich doesn't see this, I'll pass on your regards.

Cheers

Ian

Grant, Did I see you today as I was leaving in my dbm MY99?

They couldn't fit my Bailey dump valve, so I'm not feeling as pleased with them as you are!

Rob Hi,
Forget to ask for figures will give them a call, but last month had figures done by PTS in Luton and got 255lb torque and 240bhp on a cool day. From what i gather the figures produced at Powerstation always seem to be lower so what ever figures they give won't give a fair view for a before and after unless I go back to PTS.
All I can say is that after my post yesterday afternoon I went for a spin without the wife and 3 kids.
Amazing is not the work .The difference is outstanding it pulls like a train in any gear and the accelaration is quite amazing compared to before.
Well recommended.
Matt that was me sorry that you didn't have so much like with them , but why the bailey dump valve from what I have heard apart from the noise there is little difference to be gained on latter model.

Question

grant

wot sort of cash are we talking for this work ?

i've also got a MY00 and was considering a PPP but dont like the thought of the 2k price

i drove a PPP MY99 before buying and it defintely makes a difference in the low and mid-range.

has your dealer said anything about your warranty with this being fitted ?

i'm worried about making to many engine mods due to the attitude of dealers and Subaru. Especially when it comes to selling this one, maybe even to a scooby dealer !!

cheers

Steve,
I have just posted a reply regarding the warranty in this section under Prodrive.

With regard to the cost £480.00 + vat fitted.

As so far as selling a modified car you can remove Uni-chip very easily and the dealer would me none the wiser.

Presumably YOU HAVE told your insurance company? - I found it very difficult getting insurance this time round on a modded car

As far as warranty goes with the Uni chip - you, naturally no longer have one! - but thats the same with most mods to a car. I've not heard any bad stories about Uni chip - so I doubt the engine will go bang.

And, of course you cant plead ignorance and take it off -as the evidence is on the web site

Enjoy yourself

Pleased to hear that you like the Unichip.
I've been very impressed at the number of positive views from others with the same chip. On the subject of insurance (i'm assuming you've told them), did the insurance company increase your premiums ? Which company do you use ?

Only interested because I'm seriously considering this upgrade.

To all,
With regard to insurance the car is covered as part of my company fleet policy and has incured only a small increase in premium.

Steve hopefully I will not have call to rely on the guarantee for the engine.

Still worth the money go on DJB take the plunge.

Cheers

Yes, u enjoy yourself - Powerstation certainly seem to know how to mod cars with the Uni chip.

I'm seriously considering the Motec at the moment - who knows? - The Link which I have is excellent value for money but I want the extra's - such as anti lag

I need to set up a company - obviously - without mods I was getting quotes of £950 - (Hyperformance) with mods the cheapest quote I got - from A Plan was about £1350 - and modded to 360 hp the cheapest quote was £2250 - again with A Plan. (some idiots wanted engineers reports for minor mods!)

Question

Grant,

Your'e right no performance advantage, I just fancied the noise. However, after reading your post I'm very interested in the UNICHIP.
How long did fitting take?
The performance figures you quoted - I assume they were prior to having the chip fitted.
What other mods have you got, I noticed the Magnex(?) exhaust, full system or just back box?
Sounds from what you say that the difference is very noticeable, so might be worth the money.
Cheers, Matt

Matt,
Your'e right those figures were before fitting the Uni-chip.
Have fitted Falkland downpipe,de-cat centre section,Magnex backbox 6*4 and pipercross induction kit.
Will go back to Power Engineering for a new set of figures to get a comparison.

Exclamation

Am I the only one who hasnt spotted something crucial ?

18-19psi is overcooking it a bit too much on a 99/00 car !!!!!

the MAP sensor only reads upto 18psi btw.

Enjoy your performance while it lasts
