Not sure about that, I know they stamp the books to show service history. Maybe someone else would know the legalities...never owned a new scoob.

When you say first service are you talking teh 1000 mile one? or the 10,000 mile one?

If it is the 100 mile one you should she change from £100 IIRC.

I would imagine that it will be nearer the £250 - £300 mark. Give your dealer a calla dn speak to them, but if you managed to killa set of brakes in 10,000 miles then you must be a VERY hard driver.

My 10,000 mile service on STi MY03 cost £179 from memory, no additional parts required.
My second service last week (20,000 miles) cost £249 no additional parts

In the mean time i have put two sets of new pads on at £80 to purchase and about £30 fitting. These are front pads only, rears are still fine.
Had my front disks skimmed too at £40 each.

£770 is daylight robbery for sure.

how much is a 30k on a 03 WRX?

Also warranty is not invalidated as long as they use GEN subaru parts. They had a big crack down on this a few years ago as dealers had a monopoly on it and charging stupid prices. Best thing is call dealer and ask

steppers

That was me, it was a end of 1st year service, yes it cost £770. The actual service was about £300 and brake pads came to about 400 including fitting. Yes very expensive. To be fair it was done in central london, and they pick my car up from work and drop it back afterwards. Yes I'm sure I could get it done cheaper but it wold cost me more to leave the office!

On another note you mention selling, well that will cost you a lot too! Bought mine 9 months ago for £32,500 and have been told now worth about £21K. Nice!

Oh and forgot to say the brake pads were only 55% worn but I thought I was taking the car abroad for a year or so and didn't want to have to get them done in europe

£400 for brake pads? Unless you were buying the very top of the range I hope that was for disks and pads.

The links from OFT and EC explain that you can have your car serviced by garages other then franchised dealer AND still keep your warranty.

no just pads. as i said sure they are cheaper elsewhere but unfortunately with my job once in a while I have to bend over and get screwed because I can't get out of the office to get it done somehwere cheaper and they are the only dealer I know that picks up the car.

You can save a fortune at service time at main dealers by supplying your own engine oil....I just bought 7 litres of Mobil 1 for £17.50...Dealer charges around £55.

Do you mind me asking what you had added to the car to get the list price up to that?

Prodrive STI,

My 10k service was £120 odd quid and my 20k service was £145 (forgot to ask for my 10% SIDC discount). They change the brake fluid and do a brake service at the 20k, otherwise pretty much the same as 10,ooo miles one.

Oh yeah - they'll try to sell you new pads at the 20k service - get better ones cheaper elsewhere and pay a local garage £20 to fit them - it's a straight forward job if you can't do it yourself.

Sure Chris.

PPP, Prodrive spring kit, 18" OZ titanium wheels, Quickshift, Sat Nav, Laser Jammer, Road Angel. the Sat Nav was £2500 which was expensive. Basically I reckon all these extras are now worthless if I was to sell
