Cool

Triggaaar, Triggaaar and Triggaaar.

Are you three brothers or what?

Anyway I've just got mine and I love it. I suppose if everybody posted when they receive scoob, the BBS would be chocca!
I reckon the BBS should open a "I've just got my car!" section then everyone can can post there, the administraters can then issue 10-15 stock welcome messages from members that have pre-volenteered their names. Then everyone would be happy!!
Personally I like the idea of having 2 extra brothers - but they can't drive my car, right?

cheers

Justin

Justin, have you had it serviced yet? The brothers come in useful when on holiday - letting them drive it is better than having it sat on the drive for a week - although I guess that depends on who your brother is/who he thinks he is.

nutty, yep - I'm going to try and pick up some tips before mine is run in.

bkar, this rev range thing is really tough. I first test drove a scoob 3 years ago, and have only just been able to get one - there are some great roads where I'm working at the moment (sandwiches for lunch, and a little drive ) and I'm desperate to put my foot down.

As if holding back isn't difficult enough, it's not obvious how I should run it in - I'm keeping the revs below 4000, and haven't used full throttle, but I'm enthusiastically accelorating through the gears, with the revs between 3 and 4k. I was in 3rd, doing just under 2000 revs for a second yesterday, and it didn't sound good - but apart from that I'm keeping the revs above 2k (is that enough to not labour the engine?).

300 miles in less the 3 days (there's only one john felstead) and I'll have a few hundred more by the end of Monday. I am desperate to get it passed the first service.

Triggaaar,

Forgot to ask. How did the wife re-act to the seats ?

Yeah the rev thing is difficult. It feels awfull at 2,000 which causes you to resort to drive it between 3,000 and 4,000 with some nifty gear changing. Of course around that range you've come into boost which some people say you shouldnt do in the first 1,000 miles. I went over the 4,000 range half a dozen times, so for all I know I'm buggered anyway.

I'm due my 1,000 mile service but I'm comming in and out of the country and cant find a convenient time do this and am up 1,500 miles now.

Have you removed the WRX sticker yet ? I hate it but not sure if I want to remove it. It marks it different to the pedestrian UK model (heheh flames .....).

I'm impressed by the Air con, it is so much better than the one in my Escort. Mate just bought an Audi Quatro with really neet Air con and I think it is just as effective as that - although it aint got a nice display or cooling in the rear.

bkar,

Bethan (I hate refering to her as wife/other half) hates the car - she thinks it is 'kevvy' (no offence Kevins).

I'm constantly in boost range (starting at 3-3.5k, with half throttle) - I didn't realise that you shouldn't be when reading the running in threads. Oops. I've just passed 4000 rpm accidentally, but only just - I assumed it was ok.

I didn't actually mind the sticker - I'm just paranoid about theft, so I removed it today - I tried boiling water first (no extension lead necessary) - a few kettle loads later, not much progress. Then I used a hairdryer, which did the trick - biggest mistake I made was re-applying the hairdryer after half peeling a sticker. The peeled section re-attached itself to the car, and fell appart. I should have ripped the sticker half way.

Best method was to use the hairdryer all over one sticker for a couple of minutes, then it all peeled off in one go. I got rid of the residue of my first attempts with wd40.

First Air con I've had, so can't comment more than it works fine - it also gets rid of the cats **** smell that came with the car.

550 miles, first service next weekend I think (am I supposed to stop using boost? - probably a bit late now).

Triggaaar,

Know what you mean about the car reputation. Still Im pleased.

You didnt like the cats **** smell then ? Funny boy, thats a feature

I guess you feel your sticker is a lot safer now you have removed it and put into a safe place. Hope nobody nicks the car now, they might think you stuck the sticker in the glove compartment with the radio !!!

bkar

(PS why did you think anyone would be more likely to nick a WRX ?)

Triggaaaar

I'm having it serviced on Saturday, but I didn't have to run it in. Somebody in Japan handily ran it in for me for 38000 miles , took him 5 years!
I too had trouble removing stickers, one being a bright yellow 555 all over the boot. Can't have a colour like that, eh?
Getting the residue off was the worst part, paint freindly label remover worked best for me.

cheers

Justin
