Default Info required on J-K plate Legacy RS road cars

HI there.

I am looking for some info on the Subaru Legacy road car in the era of when Colin McRae rallied the rally versio of J314 PWL.

ie the road cars that were available then in the UK:

#1 Was it an RS only model as an import ?
#2 Was it the 197BHP engine?
#3 What colours were they available in ie did they come in the Rothmans blue?
#4 How many came into the UK approx?
#5 What was the MPG on the engine?
#6 In general can you give me some info on the car in terms of reliability, performance etc
#7 Any pics of the road cars that are still around in the UK would be great!
#8 What are they selling for these days if there any left that is!

Thanks for the tech info Simon, I didn't know there were two versions. Interesting how they made the 2nd version in white only.

Any info on prices, pictures, whats around in the UK and what to expect etc?

I honestly have no idea what theyd sell for here; theyre worth virtually nothing in Japan where they come up in auction from time to time. Even if they were free theyd still cost you £1,500 landed & duty paid so..... I suppose that a car like this is worth what someone will pay for it; I have seen a couple advertised but that was before Impreza prices crashed. Their appearance is similar to that of a UK turbo saloon.

That's the exact model I've got and no, even though it is a very rare car with great rally history I doubt I'd get much if I sold it. Thing is that I wouldn't want to sell it anyway because I love the fact it's rare and a bit different to the legions of imprezas (nice though they are).

Hi there l have had two rs' in just under two years first one was built up as a replica of mcraes rothmans car even down to the correct pattern wheels which were a bugger to fit requiring in the end having about an inch machining off the offset, the more recent one is currently being built in to a clubby rally car again eventually finishing up in rothmans colours. The last one was bought about 3 weeks ago from autosportif for 2 grand so you can still get them if you look or ring around and you generally find that they are lowish miles as they were soon superceeded by the impreza then most went in to storage. They really are a better option than the impreza due to the fact it goes handles and is as reliable but theres not the stigma of having a car the same as every second or third car you pass on the road.....go on get one you know it makes sense......mate of mine just bought two uk cars on the strength of a spin in mine
