Lightbulb Revised WRX Model Range 2005

just about to order my car...now the dealer informs me

"however there will be a model change at the end of this year...

The changes to the WRX will be minimal. They include updated suspension, a new colour and slight update to the interior. There will be no change to the exterior (except red brake calipers, rather than grey), engine output or transmission."

what do you know?

shall I buy the current 2004 model or wait til Jan 2005 model?

The dealer I use is selling MY04 WRX for £17995 OTR with the free servicing offer. You can bet the MY05 will be back up to £19k and the servicing offer withdrawn.

I Myself would go for the MY04 and save the cash

You could wait till the 05's are on the forecourt, then go for a test drive in both.
Also once the 05's are out there the dealers will want to get rid of some nearly new 04 demo cars.
The only drawback is that you won't be able to get a new 04, unless you find a dealer with a cancelled order '04 or one in the pound without a buyer.

Those red brake calipers make all the difference you know, stick with the MY04 if I were you.
Free servicing is a good offer not to be missed.

I was in the same boat flat-spot - but have ordered an MY05. The free servicing, while good, amounts to £750, which while a good saving, is not that much spread over 3 years. And the spec's (do a search on here for MY05) show there are a quite a few others changes other than red brakes - very revised interior, climate control, a good few suspension mods from the STi, etc etc...

As the dipster says, the offer ends end Sept, but my information says the MY05 is not arriving until end-Oct, beginning Nov. I ordered my crystal grey (the new colour) over 2 months ago, guessing that the new colour would be coming (as it was only announced about a week ago), and to be honest, it's too close to the end of the offer. Best to give it a while for the offer to run down (or for dealers to phone IM and say they have just sold a MY04 WRX on 5 Oct for example, and can the customer have the free servicing - and IM will say yes to clear the lots). My car is one of the first MY05 ordered so it will be one of the first off the boat.

Spoke direct with IM on Friday as I am currently waiting on the new company STI. They confirmed the above dates but said they are now taking orders for MY05 from dealers. They won't deliver any MY05 until they have made a dent in the outstanding stocks of MY04 - wouldn't confirm how many they had left.

Fella's
Just been advised my MY05 is arriving tomorrow Friday 24 at the dealers so the first lot of MY05's are here. It;s being delivered as soon as they can prep it, so the stuff about selling MY04 first seems to be bull!!!
