I'm confused - I thought all Scoob saloons had the same bootlid?

Following an enquiry with the dealer on Saturday, my girlfriend took a message for me today. They're sorry, but the Prodrive WR wing won't fit my UK MY98 saloon as the wing is for MY99-on cars only!

WTF? I'm sure others have had this wing on pre-99 cars? Dealer said he'd checked with Prodrive as he didn't want to sell me £500+ worth of wing and find it didn't fit - fair enough, I'm pleased that he was bothered to check, but surely the saloons have the same boot, don't they?

Anyone fitted a WR wing to their MY98 or earlier model?

My local dealer fitted one to my old MY97 UK turbo, so I'd suggest they should fit yours.

it will fit. there is a 3rd hole on each side. which i have seen fitted, and not fitted. not sure what the OEM RB5 does .. probably not screwed down knowing subaru.

i've one on mine.

go to a meet. find an RB5, and ask to look. it WILL fit .. even if you have to drill a small hole in the inner skin of the bootlid to put a 3rd screw in.

Thanks for that guys, I'm going to have a word with the dealer and see if the MY99-on cars have a different part number for the boot lid - if it's the same as the MY98 and before, then he'll have no argument!

BTT, just in case anyone else has fitted one of these to a pre MY99 car?

Just going to ring the dealer about bootlid part numbers now - I lead such an exciting life!

The RB5WR style rear spoiler fits ALL pre 01MY cars that had a standard fit Subaru rear spoiler fitted. The only issue would be the wiring to the brake light on a car that didn't have one fitted in the first place (94/95MY) as the harness doesn't extend onto the bootlid.

I have the same one mate fitted to mine, which a dealer done when I bought the car, So it should fit no problem

Wow - a reply from the hallowed halls of Prodrive itself! Thanks Mike.

Good news Colin, ta for that.

I got the dealer to check bootlid numbers - they're the same, so I've ordered the wing and it should be here on Saturday - woo hoo!

In case anyone else is thinking of getting this wing, its part number is: SACC2430.
