Do I look like I give a fukc?!
My exhaust seems to set off quite a few car alarms as I go past
Anyone else have this rather strange anomally? Are car alarms too sensitive? Is it actually the loudness? or could it just the ressonation caused by certain frequency sound vibrations caused by the scoobs burble that might cause this???
Just a thought, anyone care to comment?

Mine does it quite often and I have a Power Engineering T75 backbox and scoobysport downpipe. Most amusing when it happens
you know what they say little things please little minds, keeps me amused anyway.

My westie sets off a few and it's not even that loud at low revs (although it isn't quiet) so my guess is that it's the vibrations or frequency that set them off rather than the volume itself. Regardless, I believe it's the alarms that are too sensitive and also the reason why people ignore car alarms these days as they go off indiscriminately. Anyone know WHY they go off due to anything else than something being in the car or being broken into? Surely it's a design flaw if they go off due to external noises/vibrations/frequencies. After all, many cars have alarms that do not go off in this manner.
I tend to get MK4 golfs, 3 series and Lexus's.

My HKS does it aswell! I believe it is something to do with microwave sensors on the alarms. Our exhausts cause the air to move in the car and if the air is dense enough and the sensor too sensitive it thinks it is seeing movement in the car and sets the alarm off! This should happen more in winter as the air is denser in winter, especially if the alarm was fitted in summer and the sensitivity not adjusted for the denser air!
