Default Evidence of towing!!!!!!

A colleague of mine has bought a Y plate bug eye wagon from a dealer. It used to have a tow bar fitted as plugs and brackets are still on the car.

I am sure that the manual says no towing. Does this mean you can't have the car towed or that you are not to tow a boat or jet ski etc (daren't say caravan).

If so, should he question the dealer?

Advice appreciated.

no problem with them towing stuff mate.

I use my blob STI to tow my Jetski (300kg) with no effort at all..
In fact I do better mpg towing than solo..

If there was a problem, Subaru would not make a towbar for them, would they?

The warning must be to do with being towed (transmition issues)

I agree, but I am sure there was a thread on here questioning the whole towing issue.

Thanks anyway.

You need to be careful towing them because of the 4WD (imagine using a spec lift where the back wheels are turning and the front wheels aren't!).

There is no problem with using them to tow sensible things like boats and cars but they will turn to dust if you even contemplate towing a caravan

my MY03 wagon has spent the majority of its life towing the race car (on heavyish 2 wheel transporter) with no probs whatsoever.

to be honest, it tows much better than many other cars I have owned. never tried a caravan though as I wouldn't want to look a tw at

I got a Subaru branded Bosal from my local Subaru dealer for £220 for my Outback H6. Actually cheaper than buying a Bosal on the net as I could collect it locally so no delivery charge. The Subaru UK website gives the Impretza bar at £250.
