First trackday!

First trackday!
Just did my first trackday in the Scoob at Bruntingthorpe, through EasyTrack.co.uk okay so its not a glam circuit with gravel traps and heritage but the day was absolutely awsome
The day didn't start well as on my very first lap I left the circuit and ended up in what I can only describe as in field car park, and I didn't even spin out I just drove in there like a lemon ROFL!!!
I took the opportunity to have a 20 minute instruction which was worth it just to point you in the right direction.
As a complete novice only used to a bit of spirited driving on the odd B road a track is completely different experience, taking a long sweeping left hander at 100 mph is an experience that though daunting once mastered is trully addictive
Anyway onto the Scoob what can I say, with all the negatives that tend to get said the car is absolutely bloody awsome, by the end of the day I was managing 4 wheel drifts out of a tight right hander with the Scoob just saying give me more give me more, I would of but daren't LOL!
She never missed a beat all day, brakes were excellent no fade, engine strong all day even though it was very hot. Handling is excepetional ok maybe a bit of understeer, but if you enter the corner at the right speed in the first place then it doesn't occur anyway
Anybody who hasn't done this, then you really should.

Nice one Andy. I would agree - it's a real eye opener when you take your car on track. You start to realise how capable it is. Great fun, but be warned, it's addictive

The Radical was awsome, it sounded like nothing else on earth but then theyhad to put a quieter exhaust on but yes it was very very very quick and seemed to defy physics as it went around the corners.
Addictive you're not kidding I'm looking at buying some slicks for me 17's
Change the oil, good plan, is it worth getting the car looked over?

Andy - which Scooby were you in?
I was there in my white RA.......with slicks . Get some as they will make a big difference.
Well worth changing oil if you are going to be doing a few track days, and check the pads and disks before your next one, especially after days like Bruntingthrope where you are hitting the brakes hard at quite high speed; I was touching 125mph at the end of the back straight after the coned chicane, and then stamping on the pedal foer the right hander at the bottom.
When is your next day planned?

Hi
Yes I saw your car it was going well
I had the 03 Blue STi with gold 18's, stereotypical I know but I like it I ran out of petrol at 3.30, full tank took me 100 miles LOL! I was just starting to get into as well especially that slow right hander before the pits, proper four wheel drifting I was well chuffed, mind you my tyres don't look so happy
Where's a good place to buy slicks then?
I am thinking about doing Mallory Park in November but won't be booking it this month need to review the finances.

I buy my slicks from BMTR in Birmingham - 0121 331 1122. I run 16" wheels for slicks, so the price is cheaper than putting on 17"'s. You can only do this if you are not running BIG brakes though - you would need to check.
