Have you considered getting the service done at an independent specialist such a Scoobyclinic. Much cheaper, friendly attitude and won't affect the existing warranty or the possibility to extend (AFAIK) as long as OE parts are used.

I've got a mate who works for Daewoo and he has got it agreed they can do the service for me at a discounted rate if I get the parts, so already is less than half the price of Subaru. Unfortunately for the paint corrosion treatment, I think only Subaru can do this, or am I wrong?

With respect to your mate at Daewoo, Scoob are a little unconventional under the bonnet. Personally I'd try one of the specialists. Scoobyclinic usually come in at around half price too and they have been working on these things for over 15 years. Yer takes yer chances mate

Agree with c'boy, be sure to check in the handbook or a copy of the Subaru service schedule sheet and know exactly what it is you want before letting anyone loose on your car. For what its worth, I just got mine done at the main dealer, having checked a few of the specialists prices, did not really find the main dealer much different in price... and shock horror they do give great service!!!! choice is yours.

I haven't been that impressed with Adams at Aylesbury. I had a geometry check done there a while back and they told me all was ok, even though one of the rear wheels was at an angle.
My Dad could do the service, but it's just the service book being stamped. If I'm saving £300 a time on sevicing does the full service history really matter???

Only really matters when you come to sell it, and there's half a dozen others with history which seem a better prospect and leave your car unsold. More especially if you're selling it with any warranty remaining, or the option to extend has been negated by the lack of proper servicing. I've always driven older cars upto the Scoob and so have always done my own servicing and repairs, but whilst there is a warranty and breakdown cover to protect me from any serious financial upsets should anything unexpected happen, I'll protect the warranty with some cash. Still don't pay main dealer rates though

That's the only thing, but at the end of the day, this is a limited edition model, with 20k miles done in 3 years, and is well looked after. I think if I ever came to sell it, by keeping receipts for parts would be enough to prove the service intervals etc. The warrenty has now run out on the car, and was pretty much void after fitting the blitz exhaust etc etc. The service is just alot of money to spend which I can get done for free by looking after it myself. Is a tough call though, because alot of people do look for service history.
