I've got one and they're not very good. You can pick up a GATSO facing you (i.e. wrong direction) at about 100m, but for those facing the direction you're travelling in it all depends upon what's in front of you. You can get a bit of advance warning if there are vehicles in front going in either direction, but it's not likely to save your driving license. It also picks up lots of false alarms, traffic lights, petrol stations, supermarket sliding doors and anything else that uses radar. The filter settings don't do much for you, for example city mode simply means that it doesn't pick anything up, though I've not yet had a hand held radar gun pointed at me.

We tried one on a car we'd stopped after the driver complained it hadn't warned him we were there.

It didn't detect the gun even when it was a couple of inches away from the detector.

Snooper - should be thrown away with a pooper scooper!!!!! (what a poet !).

Bel Vector LR or 980/990 everytime! 300 metres approx on a live Gatso site.

Cheers,

Jon.

On the way home from Castle Coombe on Saturday, we were forewarned of a police speed trap which had been set up in the next village. There were 5 of us and we all slowed down for the 30mph zone (positioned right on a corner so that the police on the other side would surprise us ). Anyway, I was expecting my Snooper 815 to throw a wobbly but nothing. No laser scatter from the cars that were targeted in front of me, not even when I was the car in his line of fire.

It's always served me well on gatsos and radar guns but laser obviously isn't it's thing !!

I've read some good reviews about laser jammers though .............

Martin,
Speaking as an ex-Cossie man, I would point you at my thread "Excellent Source" which I started today. You really can have some fun with this IT stuff, and there are some very clever people out there helping

I have the Bel 990. Excellent Gatso detection. I have now passed a laser speed trap on the M4 between J16 & J17 twice without a sound from the Bel. Each time, the speed trap was aiming on the other carriageway, but the Bell has 360° laser coverage & obviously does not pick up any scatter.
