Yet Another STi VS Evo340MR
Ok sorry but had to have a delve into the darkside today, testing a FQ340 and the week after next a T25... then will make my mind up...
Well had a good 40min test over the moors in the FQ and, whilst driveing out of town I'm thinking... any moment now this things going to really blow me away...
Any moment now...
Maybe not yet....
Just in a moment...
Soon...
Mmmmmm
Ok I'll do the into second and full overtake when its clear...
Wooooosh...Mmmmm did I miss something...
Turns to the missuse, did that fell any quicker than ours...?
Mmmmm No not really...
Oh ...
I Was left a little dissapointed...
Don't get me wrong
It was very tracktable
It was very pointy
VERY pointy...
Contrary to reports it sounded ok too...
The ride was brill..
it has more room inside... for the two kids...
Nice seats.
But it didnt' really have that £OO$%£%^ Me, this is properly quick feeling...
Also parked next to mine it just seemed to look, well, a bit normal really...
Don't know what i was expecting...
It honestly didn't feel any more accelerative than my Sti PPP... I don't know if I've got a good one or what... Although it has run a 13.04 quarter so not a bad time... other than that its standard...
Anyhows I'm hopeing the T25 is going to do the deed...
If it doesn't I think I'm off for me senses checking and if there ok then i may have to be a Cateram R500
Report over...

We looked at the FQ330 before buying a JDM STi from Litcho.
My thoughts on the Evo were exactly the same. Very capable and very fast car but bloody boring.
My STi with DCCD is tail happy fun everywhere you go if you want it.
You will love the T25.
Nathan..

My experience was pretty much the same - I tried an Evo FQ-300 and an STI Type UK/PPP before settling on a JDM STI.
The Evo just never felt quick, even though it certainly was - such a hugely, crushingly capable chassis is no doubt a fabulous technical achievement, but at licence-retaining speeds it just wasn't any fun. It never really came alive unless thrashed. (I'd love to take one out on a track, though).
The two STIs, however, felt immediately cohesive and entertaining, even though I've no doubt the Evo would leave them for dead given half a chance. I felt immediately comfortable and at home, whereas in the Evo I found myself struggling to find features I actually liked rather than merely respected. The UK car was great, but the Japanese model had an even better spread of torque, more top-end power, more toys and all the MY05 improvements, so it was a no-brainer.
I pick it up in a fortnight, and I can't wait

I tried the evo before going for another Scoob and i'm glad i did. The Scooby's the better all rounder of the two which is important to me as i use the car nearly every day.

Nope I honestly didn't get that real shove in the back feeling... Mine really pushes you into the seat 2nd 3rd 4th... It wasn't the fact that the meat of the torque starts lower down, i deliberatly held it at 3k so i had a comparison with mine. So it had roughly 3500 prm to perform, without comparing the torque and pickip that would leave me stiring the gears and fumbling around in the box trying to catch up in the Scoob....
it did pull around at lower rpm and didn't bog down like mine though. So around town its the better car...
it was the 3k onward i didn't get the pushed into my seat feeling...and niether did the missuse, I used her as the sanity check... she's no idea how many "torks" it has and wot we use them for...Mmmm! I just got a "it didnt push my back like ours" My 12yr old daughter said pretty much the same...
Come on T25...
That is unless they offer me a real deal on the FQ as a part ex... I have to sell my car for the T25...
Descisions...!
Could be for sale.... One propper nice looking scoob...

Good luck getting much of a p/x deal on an Evo - I was offered £6500 for my old scooby against a new one. Sold it a few weeks later for £8900.
That's a nice looking car you have there; mightn't it be cheaper to keep it and have the 2.5l block fitted? It seems a bit of a shame to sell one car only to buy another which has to be extensively modded to begin with. Is yours a UK or Jap car?

My feelings exactly.... VERY competent, but just left me feeling slightly cold. Incidentally, if you want to be left feeling totally cold, try an M3...

go for the evo, best A-B car you can buy!!,and a lot more tuneable,iv got another 70hp out of mine, now 375 for a lot lot less than it would take to do the same to scoob...both brilliant cars though....

EVO vs STi8 PPP on a dual carridgeway and there was really nothing in it. I was sorta dissapointed really
M3 was even worse. Expected to be blown away but this was fast, yes, but not as much as you'd think.
T25 goes well from the passenger seat but need to drive to be sure...

Subaru's quite simply have more character. Its as simple as that. From the boxer engine to the handling characteristics, it aint perfect, but it makes you smile.
Evo was too clinical and just felt like a car. Which isn't the point of machines like this surely?

I followed a Porker C4s 52 plate with the full GT3 body kit on uop the private Dual carriagway the weekend... out of the private roundabout and the scoob was quicker upto 100 as i was later on the gas but caught it, he was a little pi$$ed off me thinks being pushed along by Scooby...you could see the shock as I caught him... Sounded well at full chat though!
Now thinking I'm quite happy with mine... is it really worth spending $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ on a 25 when i could just get the handling really sorted on mine... ???????????????? after all if its Porker quick then do you really need it any quicker... It really need the suspention sorting though... not happy with that, nothing that a good set of springs & whitelines can't sort out...
I wonder...
The only thing I'm miffed about is the insurance problems with modding the car, it seems to be a nightmare...
