02 Sti to buy or not to buy?
Thinking of buying a 02 sti privately, would like opinions please.
02 sti type uk ,17300 miles on clock,Wr blue ,gold alloys, standard spec ,Rac trackstar fiited, full history, warranty until march 05, £15500
Is this a good buy?
I have test driven the car already, seems excellent.
I could do with some expert advice on what to look for and whether the price is right.
Also any one interested in a 2000 "X" plate ford mondeo st200 hatch?
Your comments would be much appreciated.

It seems like good value but you will have to budget in some upgrades as the standard Sti gets bogged down in low revs.
You will have a year remaining on the warranty so may want to go the PPP like I did. However, in your position I would look at alternative poewer upgrades.
Good luck with it

Trackstar def not transferrable, £120 a year (in advance).
Seems a very good price, if you do HPI check it WILL NOT tell you if it's imported.
Get the vin No's and check with main agent, I have the same car 10k less miles but I paid more!

As a benchmark, I paid £18K for an '02 STi Prodrive Style (the same but with diff body kit and big spoiler and was about £2K list more when new) 28K miles about a month ago.
However on top of the price I got STi mats, balance of 3 year warranty to March '05 plus a 12 month Subaru extended warranty, plus labour to fit my Defi's at half price, plus tyres were as new, plus it had just had the 30K (big £400+) service. That lot adds up to well over a grand, plus whatever price you want to put on the 'comfort factor' of buying from a dealer.
So yes, that's a good price. Parkers reckons £16,800 for 'Good' condition on a non prodrive with 20K miles and we all know they are a bit inflated. But yes still a good price what's wrong with it (just keeping the balance and paranoia where it should be)
