Question Lowest mpg - hard road use?

Last weekend, early Saturday morning, had a glorious 3 hours up on the N Yorks - surely God's country for keen drivers!

Two of us, each in new age STis with PPP, driving pretty quick, hard acceleration etc.

Filled up with Optimax yesterday - worked out average fuel consumtpion for the trip was 13.3 mpg , this included gentle driving miles either side of the quick stuff.

Not complaining about the value for money - as the run out was fantastic. Just wondered if others had managed such a low mpg (excluding track and drag,) or whether my motor needs to loosen up still (2500 miles).

Out mapping Friday night before TOTB3. Fill up tank. 90 miles later, on 3/4 tank still due to a bad missfire, and driving for a spare part. 40 miles later under 1/4 tank.

The 40 miles worked out at just over 6mpg.

Mine is used as an emergency response car, under 10mpg routinely.
This may be why the emergency services don't use many scoobs.

Bleedin eck

I did not imagine so many would report consumption at 10mpg and below.

As a follow up question I have a track day at Croft in September. How much fuel is this likely to use and do you need to take spare. And does anybody know the nearest Shell garage to the circuit.

Oh by the way I originally got into Scooby ownership because 20mpg on the run into work in my 4 litre Jag seemed extravagant . That seems like a bloody joke now - Scooby owership sure as hell twists the financial logic - like all passions

I've just worked out I'm getting about 15.7 mpg per tank since I've bought my Evo MR FQ320. Bearing in mind this is normal (fun) driving with the odd bit of excess fun...I'm shocked at that to be honest! I heard somewhere that someone managed 53 miles to a full tank in an evo!

Driving steadily, and using power when needed, i can get about 240 out of a tank at the moment (fairly heavily modified), and at the recent TOTB3, i used half a tank of fuel to drive there, do 5 drag runs and 4 handling circuit runs, and then drive home, about 26 mile in total.

So roughly 4mpg.

Although yours should be different, i have heard trackdays coming in at around 8mpg on average.

Take a Jerry can to be on the safe side
