Hi there just looking for a bit of advice regarding above.
Just viewed and am thinking of buying this car. Drives perfect few dings on bodywork but not to bad. The real downside is the car has done 156k miles which is a lot for a 98 r plate. The car has an extensive service history all main dealer, recent gearbox and clutch. The car is advertised for 6500 ono. Present owner is 3rd owner and has had car for about a year.A friend of a friend used to own this car and there has been no expense spared. There are a few mods, prodrive brakes and suspension, re-chip, dump valve, magnex full stainless exhaust, k+n cone, de-cat and tracker.
Is there anything I should be looking out for? Would appreciate any help as have never owned a jap car.

They can take the miles provided they are well kept, c. 25,000 miles per year may be easy motorway miles, but be very sure you have evidence that *all* the work has been done to a good standard, not many owners will spend c. 1k a year keeping a car that is worth c. 6k to the trade, in particular "re-chip", what is this ? Ecutek re-map can be done on MY 99 onwards phase 2 engines, is this Unichip, Link, or something else ?

Being a 97-98 model it could well have already had a new engine due to the piston slap issues they had.

There is no real big issue there, but with 150K - it would make you more confident that the current engine had been replaced and would have covered less miles - worth checking it out.
