Thumbs up Learning new tricks

My old man has taught me a new trick in finding noises in the engine bay which I would of never of guessed.

Some of you might know this already but here goes:

Get a long screw driver, push onto any part of the engine block, pumps, injectors anywhere that is mechanical and the handle part up tight to the ear and you should either here a low whining noise which should be okay or tapping depending where your listening.

For Example : put the metal end of the screw driver to the injectors and plastic end to your ear and you should here loud tapping, then after if do the same to the engine block may be by the knock sensor it should be quiet.

This would help finding problems with the engine which should save you money instead of going to a garage.

Just be careful, you only touch the top of the pumps.

Actually you should put the handle end against the bone just behind the ear.
