Default AA Inspections?

Thinking of getting a Scooby soon. Was going to buy from a garage, and get warranty etc. However I've seen a couple of nice ones on here that I might be tempted by. Anyway, just wondered if I did buy privately if it would be worth getting an AA inspection done? How thorough are they, do they check the 4wd system out, etc? Anyone used them?

Don't know about the AA check but I had the top RAC check done and it was very impressive.

I did **** loads of reseach about scoobies b4 I bought one. The most important thing to me was the Full Subaru Servce History (FSSH)
I was look for about 6 months or more at mone point I lost £250 deposit on a scooby cuz I jumped right in without thinking.
If you're not 100% walk away.
Any way back to your question. If you dont know what you are looking for one get someone that does not AA. try and get some friendly person on her to look at it for you if not get it down to a scooby specialist.
I was gonna get a inspection done but I was not willing to part with £200 for a 15-30 min job.
I was luck bought it off a scoobynet member who looked after it very well.
I got the AA Data check for £40 which turned out to be a good buy.

I paid £200 for the AA inspection (took about 2 hours) but disapointed that they did not mention the misaligned steering wheel and serious cracks in one of the alloys. I am still persuing a claim against them not been especially happy with the way they have handled this so far. They didi spot a few things I had not picked up on, so I would pay for an inspection again, just not with the AA out of principal, but at the end of the day its down to the quality of the guy doing the job, could be good or bad with any company. Oh yeah, they won't check wheel alignment, but will check condition of tyres indicating any problems there.

As BrynO says it's down to the quality of the guy doing the job, I guess I was just lucky that the guy sent to check my car had previously examined 11 other scoobys.

Cheers for the info. I'm looking for either a classic Turbo or maybe a bugeye WRX. I've seen a nice Bugeye WRX at my local Subaru dealers, so I think I might go and check that out tomorrow. It sounds pretty good, 16K miles on it, service history, etc. and its £12995. Which seems pretty reasonable.

Get a Subaru specialist to check it out. The guy who checked my Legacy could not see that the clutch was going and other problems I ended up forking out for. Just my 2p worth.
